Genetic Diversity of Polymyxin Resistance Genes in Klebsiella pneumoniae Clinical Isolates

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, Volume 35, Issue 2, January 2026.
ABSTRACT This study investigates the genetic diversity and evolutionary mechanisms driving polymyxin resistance in Klebsiella pneumoniae, a critical priority pathogen. By analysing mgrB, phoPQ and pmrAB genes in susceptible (PM‐S) and resistant (PM‐R) populations through neutrality tests (Tajima D, Fu & Li's D) we uncovered polygenic adaptation and ...

Resistencia Bacteriana

Analysis of Aspergillus spp. Isolates According to Temporal–Spatial, Sociodemographic, and Clinical Variables—Microsatellite Typing of Clinical and Environmental Samples of Aspergillus fumigatus in a University Hospital in Sao Paulo, Brazil

open access: yesMycoses, Volume 69, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Typing Aspergillus species is crucial for understanding the sources of infection in hospital environments. Objectives This study analysed clinical and air samples as well as their relationship with the clinical forms of aspergillosis.

Embracing the politics of transformation: Policy action as “battle‐settlement events”

open access: yesReview of Policy Research, Volume 43, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Societal transformations for addressing climate change are intensely contested and at risk of resistance and backlash to ambitious policy action. But they are frequently modeled through heuristics such as S‐curves which abstract from such conflicts, assuming increasing returns to scale as a driver of transformations.

Exploring the Effects of Ultrasound Processing on Food Packaging Laminated With Aluminum Foil

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, Volume 65, Issue 12, Page 7136-7147, December 2025.
ABSTRACT This study investigates the effects of ultrasound (US) processing on laminated plastic packaging containing aluminum foil for food contact applications. Two multilayer structures, PET/Al/PE and PET/Al/PP, were exposed to US at 25 kHz and 8.75 W/L for up to 40 min at 25°C and 60°C, using a 3% acetic acid as a food simulant.

Importance of connectivity for carnivore richness and occupancy in fragmented biodiversity hotspots

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 39, Issue 6, December 2025.
Abstract Structural connectivity affects wildlife movement between habitat patches, contributing to the persistence of wildlife populations and their resilience to human‐induced and environmental changes. However, its importance to wildlife population persistence remains unclear, particularly in fragmented landscapes, where there are additional co ...
