Revival of the phase-amplitude description of a quantum-mechanical wave functon [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physical Chemistry & Biophysics, 2016
One of the unique properties of the sp2-carbon allotropes, such as fullerenes, carbon nanotubes and graphenes, is that their electronic structures differ significantly among them according to characteristic electron confinement based on their dimensionality and geometric structures, which can be influenced not only by charge injection and chemical ...

Spin and mass of the nearest supermassive black hole [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Astrophysics & Aerospace Technology, 2014
Quasi-Periodic Oscillations (QPOs) of the hot plasma spots or clumps orbiting an accreting black hole contain information on the black hole mass and spin. The promising observational signatures for the measurement of black hole mass and spin are the latitudinal oscillation frequency of the bright spots in the accretion flow and the frequency of black ...

Theoretical study of electron states in Au chains on NiAl(110)

open access: yes, 2004
We have carried out a density functional study of unoccupied, resonance states in a single Au atom, dimers, a trimer and infinite Au chains on the NiAl(110) surface.

Correlation functions and emission time sequence of light charged particles from projectile-like fragment source in E/A = 44 and 77 MeV 40Ar + 27Al collisions

open access: yes, 2004
Two-particle correlation functions, involving protons, deuterons, tritons, and alpha-particles, have been measured at very forward angles (0.7 deg < theta_lab < 7 deg), in order to study projectile-like fragment (PLF) emission in E/A = 44 and 77 MeV 40Ar

Information length as a new diagnostic of stochastic resonance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Stochastic resonance is a subtle, yet powerful phenomenon in which noise plays an interesting role of amplifying a signal instead of attenuating it. It has attracted great attention with a vast number of applications in physics, chemistry, biology, etc ...

Effect of ground-state deformation on the isoscalar giant monopole resonance and the first observation of overtones of the isoscalar giant quadrupole resonance in rare-Earth Nd isotopes

open access: yesPhysics Letters B
The strength distributions of the Isoscalar Giant Monopole Resonance (ISGMR) and Isoscalar Giant Quadrupole Resonance (ISGQR) in 142,146−150Nd have been determined via inelastic α-particle scattering with the Grand Raiden (GR) Spectrometer at the ...

Baryon Resonances [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In this talk I show recent results on how many excited baryon resonances appear as systems of one meson and one baryon, or two mesons and one baryon, with the mesons being either pseudoscalar or vectors.

SNUPN‐Related Muscular Dystrophy: Novel Phenotypic, Pathological and Functional Protein Insights

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective SNUPN‐related muscular dystrophy or LGMDR29 is a new entity that covers from a congenital or childhood onset pure muscular dystrophy to more complex phenotypes combining neurodevelopmental features, cataracts, or spinocerebellar ataxia. So far, 12 different variants have been described.

Observation of fixed lines induced by a nonlinear resonance in the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron

open access: yesNature Physics
The motion of systems with linear restoring forces and recurring nonlinear perturbations is of central importance in physics. When a system’s natural oscillation frequencies and the frequency of the nonlinear restoring forces satisfy certain algebraic ...

X‐Ray Computed Tomography Quantifies Primary Phases and Reveals Crack Morphology in High‐Cycle Fatigue of Aluminum Alloy EN AW‐2618A

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Primary phases and a fatigue crack are studied in a forged blank of an aluminum alloy using synchrotron and laboratory X‐ray computed tomography. To image the crack, the fatigue test is interrupted, and a static tensile load is applied to open the crack.
