Patterns from preheating [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
The formation of regular patterns is a well-known phenomenon in condensed matter physics. Systems that exhibit pattern formation are typically driven and dissipative with pattern formation occurring in the weakly non-linear regime and sometimes even in ...

X‐Ray Computed Tomography Quantifies Primary Phases and Reveals Crack Morphology in High‐Cycle Fatigue of Aluminum Alloy EN AW‐2618A

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Primary phases and a fatigue crack are studied in a forged blank of an aluminum alloy using synchrotron and laboratory X‐ray computed tomography. To image the crack, the fatigue test is interrupted, and a static tensile load is applied to open the crack.

Constraining spin-one color-octet resonances using CDF and ATLAS data [PDF]

open access: yesThe European Physical Journal C, 2010
In this paper, we study the production of spin-one color-octet resonances (colorons) at hadron colliders in a model independent way. We use dijets data measured by CDF (at \sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV and L=1.13$ 1/pb) and ATLAS (at \sqrt{s}=7$ TeV and L=315 1/nb) collaborations at the Tevatron and the LHC respetively to impose limits on the coupling of colorons ...

Kaon electromagnetic production: constraints set by new data

open access: yes, 2004
The CLAS data on the photo-production of K+ off the proton are utilised to study reaction mechanism of the process in frame of the isobaric approach. The missing D13 resonance is shown to be important for successful description of the data in the whole ...

Kondo effect of an adatom in graphene and its scanning tunneling spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We study the Kondo effect of a single magnetic adatom on the surface of graphene. It was shown that the unique linear dispersion relation near the Dirac points in graphene makes it more easy to form the local magnetic moment, which simply means that the ...

Fabrication of a Stable, Low‐Cost, Patient‐Specific, Brain Phantom with Ventricles for Ultrasound Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Patient‐specific brain phantoms can replace animal trials, aid presurgical training, and enable in silico disease research on cerebrospinal fluid and ventricles. This study presents a method to create ventricular brain phantoms from three‐dimensional magnetic resonance images brain scans, resulting in durable, tunable, reproducible models that mimic ...

Quality Enhancement of Laser Powder‐Bed Fusion Parts by Acoustically Assisted Additive Manufacturing by Laser Powder‐Bed Fusion and its Application to Lattice Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing technologies like laser powder‐bed fusion offer great design freedom and individualization of products down to a batch size of one. However, parts fabricated with this technology suffer from poor quality. Acoustic assistance during the build process can minimize these drawbacks.

Fast control of interactions in an ultracold two atom system: Managing correlations and irreversibility

open access: yesSciPost Physics, 2019
We design and explore a shortcut to adiabaticity (STA) for changing the interaction strength between two ultracold, harmonically trapped bosons. Starting from initially uncorrelated, non-interacting particles, we assume a time-dependent tuning of the ...

Anatomy of three-body decay III. Energy distributions

open access: yes, 2005
We address the problem of calculating momentum distributions of particles emerging from the three-body decay of a many-body resonance. We show that these distributions are determined by the asymptotics of the coordinate-space complex-energy wave-function

Ag Cluster‐Modified K0.5Na0.5NbO3 Piezocatalyst for Enhanced Electrochemical Dinitrogen Reduction Reaction

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ag cluster‐modified K0.5Na0.5NbO3 acts as an efficient piezocatalyst for electrochemical N2 reduction, enhanced by built‐in electric fields under mechanical actuation. Comparative studies between static and actuated electrodes reveal improved performance under dynamic conditions.
