Suppression of scattering resonances in inhomogeneous microdroplets
Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 1994Resonance structure in elastic scattering from microdroplets was first observed more than 15 years ago by Ashkin and Dziedzic1, who measured the time evolution of scattering from slowly evaporating optically levitated silicon oil droplets. On the heels of this discovery, Chylek et al2 identified the observed peaks in Ashkin’s data with predicted ...

Backscattering suppression in nonreciprocal ring resonators
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2010Faraday effect in ring resonators leads to the resonance splitting of clockwise and counter‐clockwise propagating modes. Thus the backscattering into counter propagating mode of the ring resonator due to the roughness or periodical corrugation of the ring side walls can be suppressed by the Faraday effect.

Decoherence suppression in a resonant driving field
Journal of Physics B: Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics, 2008Resonant radio frequency (rf) control fields have been employed to suppress decoherence in single quantum bits (qubits) encoded in the probability amplitudes of np fine-structure states in Li Rydberg atoms. As described previously [1], static electric-field tuning of the spin and orbital angular momentum composition of the fine-structure eigenstates ...

Suppression of resonant modes in microwave packages
IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest, 2003Undesirable resonant cavity modes of a metal package are shown to be damped effectively by placing a dielectric substrate coated with a resistive film in the cavity. Theoretical predictions are confirmed experimentally. The application of this technique to a hybrid phase shifter in which coupling to a resonant mode of the package degrades circuit ...

The suppression of resonance absorption in indium antimonide
The International Journal of Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 1962Abstract High-resonance neutron absorption both in antimony and indium makes it impossible to achieve uniform neutron irradiation of thick samples of indium antimonide by simple insertion in a neutron flux. A technique has been devised in which the fluxes of resonance neutrons are attenuated by surrounding the specimen with suitable thickness of ...

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1997
The development of in vivo electron paramagnetic resonance spectrometers has generated a need for a better method of inductive coupling between a microwave resonator and a transmission line. We describe here an approach, based on introducing an additional impedance transformer between a coupling loop and the transmission line.
