Spectroscopy, Interactions and Level Splittings in Au Nanoparticles

open access: yes, 1999
We have measured the electronic energy spectra of nm-scale Au particles using a new tunneling spectroscopy configuration. The particle diameters ranged from 5nm to 9nm, and at low energies the spectrum is discrete, as expected by the electron-in-a-box ...

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Plant Parts

open access: yesPlant Perspectives
While the natural sciences and the humanities were not always as separate as they appear today, language has connected them inextricably throughout history. Terminology for plant parts such as root, leaf, stem, flower and fruit have been operative across

Coherent Networks of Si Nanocrystals: Tunable Collective Resonances with Narrow Spectral Widths

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, 2021
The ultralong coherent networks of Si nanocrystals (NCs) via lattice‐enhanced dipole–dipole coupling and the formation of disordered arrays of phase‐correlated field hotspots are studied.

Longitudinal circulating tumor DNA profiling in patients with advanced endometrial cancer using an off‐the‐shelf targeted NGS panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumour heterogeneity complicates precision management of advanced endometrial cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive strategy to capture tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance. Here, we compare tumor‐agnostic NGS with tumor‐informed ddPCR, outlining their relative sensitivity, concordance, and clinical implications ...

The Analytic Continuation of the Lippmann-Schwinger Eigenfunctions, and Antiunitary Symmetries

open access: yesSymmetry, Integrability and Geometry: Methods and Applications, 2009
We review the way to analytically continue the Lippmann-Schwinger bras and kets into the complex plane. We will see that a naive analytic continuation leads to nonsensical results in resonance theory, and we will explain how the non-obvious but correct ...

Series of Broad Resonances in Atomic Three-Body Systems

open access: yesAtoms, 2016
We re-examine the series of resonances found earlier in atomic three-body systems by solving the Faddeev-Merkuriev integral equations. These resonances are rather broad and line up at each threshold with gradually increasing gaps.

Stochastic resonancevs.resonant activation [PDF]

open access: yesEurophysics Letters (EPL), 2006
The phenomenon of stochastic resonance by which it is possible to boost the transduction of information by tuning into noise is experimentally and numerically contrasted with the phenomenon of resonant activation, i.e. the occurrence of a minimal, averaged residence time at an optimal time-scale in the presence of barrier modulations.

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches.
