Controlling Stochastic Resonance

Physical Review Letters, 1999
Stochastic resonance (SR) is a nonlinear noise-mediated cooperative phenomenon wherein the coherent response to a deterministic signal can be enhanced in the presence of an optimal amount of noise. Since its inception in 1981 [1], SR [2] has been demonstrated in diverse systems including sensory neurons, mammalian neuronal tissue, lasers, SQUIDs ...

HTS resonant controller

Physica C: Superconductivity, 2007
Abstract High T c superconductors (HTS) such as Bi-2223/Ag wires can be used to build inductors. Q value of the inductor made using HTS technology can be dramatically increased with readily cryogenic systems. This HTS inductor brings an electronic resonate circuit with special characteristics to have a wide range control of its voltages and ...

Noninvasive control of stochastic resonance

Physical Review E, 2001
External feedback can enhance (or depress) the response of a noisy bistable system to monochromatic signals, significantly magnifying its natural stochastic resonance. We compare and contrast a variety of such feedback strategies, using both numerical simulations and analog electronic experiments.

Controlling bistability in microelectromechanical resonators

Chaos: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Nonlinear Science, 2008
For a microelectromechanical (MEM) resonator, the combination of mechanical nonlinearity and electrical driving force can lead to bistability. In such a case, the system exhibits two coexisting stable oscillatory states (attractors): one with low and another with high energy.

Parametric Resonant Control of Chaos

International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 1998
A concise account is given of the early motivations for introducing parametric methods to achieve control of chaos. The heuristic argument that made us think that this kind of method could have been successful is also given. A key study is then reviewed.

Resonant-tank control of parallel resonant converter

[Proceedings] Thirteenth International Telecommunications Energy Conference - INTELEC 91, 1993
A control method, named resonant-tank control (RTC), is proposed for a parallel resonant power converter (PRC) operating above resonance. Using a simple linear combination of tank variables, it has potential for high-frequency DC-DC power converter applications.

Vibration control of 2 mass resonant system by resonance ratio control

Proceedings of IECON '93 - 19th Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics, 2002
This paper presents a position control method to suppress torsional vibrations of 2 mass resonant systems without using position sensor on the arm portion. Instead of using a position sensor, the reaction torque caused by the shaft torsion is utilized for the suppression of the vibration.

Resonance seeking control

Proceedings, 2005 IEEE/ASME International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics., 2006
An adaptive control method that seeks the unknown resonant frequency of a load and drives it at its resonant frequency to achieve optimal performance is proposed and investigated. The method is based on estimating the derivative of the average power delivered to the load with respect to the driving frequency and using this estimate to adaptively ...

Understanding repetitive control and resonant control

2012 3rd IEEE International Symposium on Power Electronics for Distributed Generation Systems (PEDG), 2012
The relationship between resonant control and repetitive control is investigated in this paper. Resonant control and repetitive control are compared by using them to an active power filter (APF). The stability and design of parameter with the two control methods in APF system are analyzed, and the steady-state error and transient response are also ...
