Controlling vibration using resonance

2022
This talk will concentrate upon model elastic, mechanical and acoustic devices that have resonance as a key component and where grading or otherwise altering a parameter lead to interesting and useful effects. This includes focussing and redirecting wave energy.

Bilateral control of 3-mass resonant system based on resonance ratio control

2011 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology, 2011
Recently, tele-operation of the robot is needed with getting force information. To realize tele-operation with force feedback, high accuracy force control is essential. However, torsional vibration of multi-mass resonant system is a serious problem to operate robots.

Lithographic Control of Resonance Wavelengths in Micro-Resonators

Frontiers in Optics 2007/Laser Science XXIII/Organic Materials and Devices for Displays and Energy Conversion, 2007
We present and verify an analytical theory for the resonance wavelength shift due to resonator’s perimeter change.

Decentralized resonant controller for vibroacoustic active control

2007 Mediterranean Conference on Control & Automation, 2007
The problem addressed in this paper concerns the stability of decentralized resonant controller (DRC) for the disturbance rejection of a harmonic vibration disturbance. A resonant controller is presented within the formalism of the complex envelope.

Thermoacoustically controlled Helmholtz resonators

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science, 2013
Helmholtz resonators and their modifications are commonly applied for suppressing unwanted sound, including acoustic oscillations in chambers of propulsion and power systems. Sound absorption characteristics of Helmholtz resonators can be enhanced and controlled with a use of thermal stratification in porous insets inside resonators.

Resonant crossing processes controlled by colored noise

Physical Review Letters, 1993
The crossing processes in an overdamped double-well potential driven by an external colored noise and a weak sinusoidal time-dependent modulation are investigated by means of analog simulation. A new resonance is revealed (besides the so-called stochastic resonance) for frequencies close to the inverse time constant of the colored intrawell dynamics ...

Polarity Resonance & Resonant Polarity Control (PR-RPC)

Polarized and directional phenomena underpin many modern technologies and natural processes. From circularly polarized organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) to chiral-induced spin selectivity (CISS), from magneto-optic sensing to neural synchronization, performance improves when directions and rhythms are aligned.
