Influence of damping resistance in resonant grounding system of distribution network

2012 China International Conference on Electricity Distribution, 2012
The subject of this paper is to analyze the influence of damping resistance in resonant grounding system. In considering the widely used of the automatic arc suppressing coil, it focuses on the relationship between damping resistance and the accuracy of coil automatic tuning by the way of simulation and operation testing, and a proposal is made for ...

Fault Location Based on Correlative Characteristic Values in Resonant Grounded System

2017 10th International Conference on Intelligent Computation Technology and Automation (ICICTA), 2017
A method for fault location based on correlative characteristic values (CCVs) in resonant grounded system is presented. In this method, zero-sequence current signals of two different data windows are extracted for each feeder terminal unit (FTU) after a single-phase-to-ground fault occurs. Then, their correlation coefficient which is called CCV of each

Application of Resonant Grounding in Power Systems in the United States

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1951
Previous investigations indicated a trend toward increased application of resonant grounding in the United States. The application of resonant grounding in power systems operating at voltages from 2.4 kv to 230 kv has been analyzed on the basis of answers to a questionnaire received from all organizations using such grounding.

Mathematical morphology‐based single phase‐to‐ground fault feeder selector for a resonant grounded distribution system

IEEJ Transactions on Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 2018
In this letter, we present a new single phase‐to‐ground fault feeder selector for a resonant grounded distribution system based on mathematical morphology. A combined morphological filter, which is the average of open–closing and close–opening, is employed to extract the transient component and decaying DC component from the zero‐sequence current ...

Effect of Substation Grounding on the Neutral Voltage in Substations with Multiple Independent Resonant Grounding Systems

2018 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting (IAS), 2018
The paper puts forward a recent practical issue which has never been addressed before that is associated with resonant grounded networks fed from multiple independent transformers and located in the same substation. This situation is common when the network is not initially designed as a resonant grounding network and the intention of using resonant ...

Practical Experiences with Resonant Grounding in a Large 34.5-Ky System

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1950
A large 34.5-kv system was operated ungrounded until early in 1946, at which time resonant grounding was installed, since it promised to be the most effective and most economical method of improving reliability of service. The layout of the system and a description of tests with the groundfault neutralizer installed are given. Records ords of operation

Ground and air resonance characteristics of a soft in-plane rigid-rotor system

VTOL Research, Design, and Operations Meeting, 1969
A flight research program was conducted on a soft in‐plane matched‐stiffness rotor in which it was demonstrated that a soft in‐plane rigid rotor is subject to mechanical instability in flight as well as on the ground. The research included extending existing analysis techniques to include aerodynamic forces.
