Magnetic resonant and non-resonant investigations of LiLnF4 (Ln = Y, Tm) powders

open access: yes, 2020
The properties of dielectric powders of the Van Vleck paramagnet LiTmF4 and its diamagnetic analogue LiYF4 have been investigated by both resonant methods (EPR, NMR, and the mass-spectroscopy) and non-resonant ones (conductometry and magnetization ...

Localized 3D control of energetic electron-driven toroidal Alfven eigenmode using resonant magnetic perturbations in the EAST tokamak

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
The formation of a static 3D helically localized perturbation structure of the toroidal Alfvén eigenmode (TAE) is observed for the first time under static magnetic islands induced by resonant magnetic perturbations (RMPs) in tokamak plasmas.

Spatially Configurable Conformal Sensor Integration on an Ultra‐Fine Metallic Needle for Minimally Invasive Deep‐Tissue Oxygen Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A multi‐point oxygen‐sensing ultra‐fine needle (MO‐UFN) is developed by conformally integrating a lithographically patterned flexible electrochemical sensor array onto a clinical acupuncture needle. The platform preserves an approximately 0.3 mm diameter while enabling spatially resolved oxygen profiling along the insertion pathway.

Geometry‐Driven Whispering‐Gallery Modes in Self‐Assembled Phosphorescent Organic Microtubes

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Micelles encapsulating tris(2‐phenylpyridine)iridium(III) self‐assemble into a hollow hexagonal microtube stabilized by a surface passivation layer. The hexagonal cross‐section confines circulating light along its facets, sustaining sharp whispering‐gallery resonances that guide photoluminescence emission under laser excitation.

Purely Equatorial Lasing in Spherical Liquid Crystal Polymer Microlasers with Bipolar Refractive Index Profile

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Spherical liquid crystal polymer microlasers with a bipolar configuration confine lasing to a single equatorial plane, allowing precise control over where the laser emission is generated. The anisotropic refractive index profile additionally lifts the energy degeneracy of azimuthal whispering gallery modes, which causes a characteristic splitting into ...
