Does financial integration make banks act more prudential? Regulation, foreign owned banks, and the lender-of-last resort [PDF]

open access: yes
We develop a simple model that looks at the incentives of private banks to behave prudentially and undertake costly efforts to lower the probability of bankruptcy or having to be bailed out by a lender of last resort.

Calibration‐Free Electromyography Motor Intent Decoding Using Large‐Scale Supervised Pretraining

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Calibration‐free electromyography motor intent decoding is enabled through large‐scale supervised pretraining across heterogeneous datasets. A Spatially Aware Feature‐learning Transformer processes variable channel counts and electrode geometries, allowing transfer across users and recording setups. On a held‐out benchmark, fine‐tuned cross‐user models

Dithioketal Polymers Via Radical Polymerization of γ‐Dithiobutyrolactone

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
γ‐Dithiobutyrolactone (DTBL) behaves like a ring‐retaining monomer in radical copolymerization with a series of conjugated monomers like styrene, t‐butyl acrylate and N,N‐dimethylacrylamide. The resulting copolymers contain controlled fractions of dithioketal linkages in their backbone, allowing chemical degradation.

Quaternionic potentials in non-relativistic quantum mechanics

open access: yes, 2002
We discuss the Schrodinger equation in presence of quaternionic potentials. The study is performed analytically as long as it proves possible, when not, we resort to numerical calculations.

B/ordering and healthcare access for migrants with precarious status: The role of healthcare workers in counteracting restrictive policies

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Community Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract In Canada, precarious migration is largely invisibilized. Nonetheless, b/ordering greatly affects people's realities by limiting access to social rights. In Quebec, migrants with precarious status (MPS) do not have access to healthcare, although Quebec has a “universal” healthcare coverage.

Aggregation‐State Dynamics Drive Double Cooperativity Between Antimicrobial Peptides LL‐37 and HNP1

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The double cooperative effect between LL‐37 and HNP1 arises from dynamic changes in their aggregation state. These LL‐37/HNP1 assemblies reorganize in a target‐dependent manner, suppressing activity toward mammalian cells while enabling potent antibacterial action.

The lender of last resort and liquidity provision: How much of a departure is the sub-prime crisis? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The traditional role of the lender of last resort (LOLR) is to avoid unnecessary bank failures that could threaten systemic stability, while ensuring that there are suitable safeguards for central bank balance sheets and that moral hazard is minimised ...

Quantum gravity effects in statistical mechanics with modified dispersion relation

open access: yes, 2017
Planck scale inspired theories which are also often accompanied with maximum energy and/or momentum scale predict deformed dispersion relations compared to ordinary special relativity and quantum mechanics.
