BARRIERS TO EFFECTIVE PARENTING OF ADOLESCENT CHILDREN IN RESOURCE-CONSTRAINED COMMUNITIES

open access: yesSocial Work/Maatskaplike Werk, 2022
The study examined barriers to effective parenting of adolescent children in resource-constrained communities. A qualitative approach was adopted for data collection and analysis.

IoT-RECSM—Resource-Constrained Smart Service Migration Framework for IoT Edge Computing Environment

open access: yesSensors, 2020
The edge-based computing paradigm (ECP) becomes one of the most innovative modes of processing distributed Interneit of Things (IoT) sensor data. However, the edge nodes in ECP are usually resource-constrained.

Machine Learning Analytic-Based Two-Staged Data Management Framework for Internet of Things

open access: yesSensors, 2023
In applications of the Internet of Things (IoT), where many devices are connected for a specific purpose, data is continuously collected, communicated, processed, and stored between the nodes. However, all connected nodes have strict constraints, such as

Resource Constrained Structured Prediction

open access: yesProceedings of the AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence, 2017
We study the problem of structured prediction under test-time budget constraints. We propose a novel approach based on selectively acquiring computationally costly features during test-time in order to reduce the computational cost of pre- diction with minimal performance degradation.

The Utility of Efavirenz-based Prophylaxis Against HIV Infection. A Systems Pharmacological Analysis

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2019
Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is considered one of the five “pillars” by UNAIDS to reduce HIV transmission. Moreover, it is a tool for female self-protection against HIV, making it highly relevant to sub-Saharan regions, where women have the highest ...

Resource-constrained Fairness

open access: yesCoRR
Access to resources strongly constrains the decisions we make. While we might wish to offer every student a scholarship, or schedule every patient for follow-up meetings with a specialist, limited resources mean that this is not possible. When deploying machine learning systems, these resource constraints are simply enforced by varying the threshold of

Innovative approaches to neonatal jaundice diagnosis and management in low-resourced settings

open access: yesSouth African Family Practice
Persistent challenges in addressing severe neonatal hyperbilirubinaemia in resource-constrained settings have led to ongoing and often unacceptable rates of morbidity, disability and mortality.

Soundness of Resource-Constrained Workflow Nets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We study concurrent processes modelled as workflow Petri nets extended with resource constraints. We define a behavioural correctness criterion called soundness: given a sufficient initial number of resources, all cases in the net are guaranteed to terminate successfully, no matter which schedule is used.

GeoAI in Resource-Constrained Environments

open access: yes2024 Conference on AI, Science, Engineering, and Technology (AIxSET)
This paper describes spatially aware Artificial Intelligence, GeoAI, tailored for small organizations such as NGOs in resource constrained contexts where access to large datasets, expensive compute infrastructure and AI expertise may be restricted.
