A Detailed and Comprehensive Account of Fractional Physics‐Informed Neural Networks: From Implementation to Efficiency

open access: yesArtificial Intelligence for Engineering, EarlyView.
Caputo‐based fPINNs accurately solve fractional ODEs and PDEs while exposing an accuracy–cost trade‐off driven by the history‐dependent fractional derivative. Temporal collocation and shorter time windows are the most effective strategies for improving early‐time accuracy without unnecessary spatial refinement.

Resource management for Sustainable Development of Island Economies [PDF]

open access: yes
What is the role of resource management in sustaining competitiveness for island economies such as the Republic of the Philippines and Hawaii? We review the history of thought on sustainable resource management and sustainable development and then turn ...

Classification of Broadband Oscillations Using Wavelet Convolution and Multi‐Channel Attention Network

open access: yesEnergy Internet, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Accurate identification of broadband oscillation types is a prerequisite for implementing appropriate control strategies. The strongly nonlinear, nonstationary and multi‐modal characteristics of broadband oscillation signals impose higher demands on identification methods. Practical applications face challenges such as coupling effects between

The quality of political institutions and the curse of natural resources. [PDF]

open access: yes
We propose a theoretical model to explain empirical regularities related to the curse of natural resources, which emphasises the behaviour and incentives of politicians.

Application of Deep Learning in Virtual Power Plants—A Review

open access: yesEnergy Internet, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The advancement of deep learning (DL) has substantially improved the power grid’s ability to model and optimise diverse and highly complex tasks. Although intelligent transformation is an inevitable trend, traditional approaches increasingly reveal limitations in computational efficiency, nonlinear nonconvex optimisation, and multi‐layer ...

Contesting Resources - Rent Seeking, Conflict and the Natural Resource Curse [PDF]

open access: yes
A growing empirical literature links natural resource abundance and "pointiness" to impeded economic growth and civil strife. We develop rent seeking and conflict models that capture the most salient features of contests for resource rents, and show how ...

Nutrient enrichment destabilizes aquatic food webs through synchronization within and across trophic levels

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, EarlyView.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Nutrient enrichment destabilizes ecosystems globally, but the mechanistic pathways underlying this effect in multi‐trophic communities remain unclear. To address this knowledge gap, we applied biodiversity–stability theory to multi‐trophic communities by partitioning ...

Dutch Disease, Factor Mobility Costs, and the ‘Alberta Effect’ – The Case of Federations [PDF]

open access: yes
Do reduced costs of factor mobility mitigate ‘Dutch Disease’ symptoms? The case of federations provides an indication for this. By investigating ‘Resource Curse’ effects in all federations for which complete data is available at the regional level it is ...

The Price Gap in Agriculture‐Based Greenhouse Gas Offset Markets

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Today, there is a global effort to reduce greenhouse gas net emissions (GHGNE). For economic well‐being, it is important to identify low‐cost means of net emission offsets. Agriculture and forestry have received considerable attention as a means of supplying emissions offsets, as they contribute nearly 20% of global emissions.
