Assessing resource-use efficiency of land use
Environmental Modelling & Software, 2018Abstract We introduce an explicit indicator and the Land Use Management Support System to assess the resource-use efficiency of land use (RUE) at the landscape scale. To estimate RUE, we relate land-use performance with regard to ecosystem services indicators to the maximum possible land-use performance based on an optimised land-use configuration ...

Efficient use of hardware resources on virtualization environment
2015 10th Asia-Pacific Symposium on Information and Telecommunication Technologies (APSITT), 2015Concurrency increases on virtualization environments because processes that access various shared resources concurrently run on various cores of various virtual machines. Therefore, the exclusive locks and waits for locks against shared data often occur, and we face challenges that make efficient use of hardware resources difficult.

RESOURCE USE EFFICIENCY IN RICE
Madras Agricultural Journal, 1995Resource use efficiency in rice was studied in Thanjavur district. Totally 90 respondents were interviewed personally for this study for three dominant varieties. It revealed that human labour contribution to rice yield and dummies used for regions like new and old delts was significant. Farmers were using higher seed rate.

Resource-use efficiency and plant invasion in low-resource systems
Nature, 2007No species can maximize growth, reproduction and competitive ability across all environments, so the success of invasive species is habitat-dependent. Nutrient-rich habitats often experience more invasion than resource-poor habitats, a pattern consistent with traits generally associated with successful invaders (high growth rates, early reproduction ...

On efficient resource use for scientific workflows in clouds
Computer Networks, 2018Abstract The abundance of cloud resources has enabled not only web applications, but also scientific applications to easily scale to meet their objectives, such as performance and costs. However, due to the complex and large-scale nature of scientific workflows, the decision on such scaling (resource management) is much complicated often resulting in

NEXus: Making Efficient Use of Limited Resources
Journal of Professional Nursing, 2016Faculty to teach and mentor doctoral nursing students are and will continue to be in short supply. Coupled with ever-increasing resource-constricted educational environments, doctoral programs are challenged to provide high-quality education with limited resources. The Nursing Education Exchange (NEXus) is a viable solution to help meet that challenge.

Efficient Use of Geographically Spread Cloud Resources
2013 13th IEEE/ACM International Symposium on Cluster, Cloud, and Grid Computing, 2013The demand for cloud services in each geographical location changes over time depending on the time of the day. Thus, when one data center (say in the east coast of the US) experiences peak load, other data centers (say in Europe) experience lower load.

Microbial enhancement of crop resource use efficiency
Current Opinion in Biotechnology, 2012Naturally occurring soil microbes may be used as inoculants to maintain crop yields despite decreased resource (water and nutrient) inputs. Plant symbiotic relationships with mycorrhizal fungi alter root aquaporin gene expression and greatly increase the surface area over which plant root systems take up water and nutrients.

Energy Efficiency or the Efficient Use of Energy Resources?
Energy Sources, 1994Abstract This article distinguishes between energy efficiency and the economically efficient use of energy resources. Policies intended to enhance energy efficiency are unlikely to contribute to the economically efficient use of energy and are therefore likely to waste resources.
