Mucopolysaccharidoses (MPS) are a group of inherited, metabolic diseases caused by deficiency of lysosomal enzymes that degrade glycosaminoglycans (GAG). Loss of enzyme activity results in cellular accumulation of GAG fragments leading to the progressive multi-system manifestations.
