An Optoelectrically Switched, Dual‐Mode Neuromorphic Sensor for Transient and Accumulative Gas Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A transistor‐type carbon nanotube gas sensor with dual‐mode detection capability has been proposed. By simply adjusting the gate voltage and UV illumination, this sensor enables both real‐time detection and accumulation‐based sensing of toxic gases within a single device, providing a compact and adaptable platform for environmental monitoring ...

2024 Focused Update: Guidelines on Use of Corticosteroids in Sepsis, Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, and Community-Acquired Pneumonia

open access: yesCritical Care Medicine
RATIONALE: New evidence is available examining the use of corticosteroids in sepsis, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and community-acquired pneumonia (CAP), warranting a focused update of the 2017 guideline on critical illness-related ...

Highly Sensitive Cuffless Blood Pressure Monitoring with Selective Laser‐Sintered Liquid Metal Conductors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A soft, compact, and cuffless system for continuous blood pressure monitoring using laser‐sintered liquid metal conductors is developed. The stretchability and sensitivity of the device enable real‐time, non‐invasive tracking of blood pressure, including recovery after exercise. This wearable device offers a practical solution for managing hypertension

Results from a UK consensus about the optimal prescribing of medium strength triple therapy in uncontrolled adult asthma patients in the NHS

open access: yesJournal of Family Medicine and Primary Care
Context: An inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) in combination with a long-acting β2-agonist (LABA) is a common treatment approach for asthma patients not controlled on ICS alone, but a significant proportion of patients remain uncontrolled on this combination ...

Disability in Respiratory Medicine

open access: yesJournal of Lung, Pulmonary & Respiratory Research, 2014
Respiratory disease is one of the first of the 5 causes of mortality worldwide; being one of the most common causes of temporary incapacity. The consumption of snuff; pollutants and early exposure to allergens; cause patients with bronchial asthma chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD); or very frequent and at younger ages; thus the working lives

Functional Hydrogel for Modulating Lipid Droplets and Neuroinflammation in Head Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
After TBI, elevated cholesterol levels in activated microglia lead to the accumulation of cholesterol esters in lipid droplets, exacerbating neuroinflammation. A β‐cyclodextrin‐conjugated GelMA (βCD‐GelMA) hydrogel is developed to promotes cholesterol efflux and reduces LDL influx, thereby alleviating intracellular cholesterol and lipid droplet buildup.
