[Determination of respiratory frequency from respiratory sinus arrhythmia].

Biomedizinische Technik. Biomedical engineering, 1997
In the clinical setting, the observation of undisturbed spontaneous respiration and direct measurement of an "unbiased" respiratory rate is not a practical option. However, the respiratory modulation of the heart rate (respiratory sinus arrhythmia, RSA) offers a possibility of recording the respiratory rate indirectly.

Postural Effect on Respiratory Sinus Arrhythmia with Various Respiratory Frequencies.

APPLIED HUMAN SCIENCE Journal of Physiological Anthropology, 1996
Heart rate variations during steady state respiration with various frequencies were studied on seven healthy male students at two different body positions. Respiration was controlled at four different frequencies (0.083, 0.100, 0.200, 0.250Hz), and the tidal volume was simultaneously controlled at 1500ml (0.083, 0.100Hz) or 1000ml (0.200, 0.250Hz).

[Mathematical model of "respiratory sinus arrhythmia"].

Wiener medizinische Wochenschrift (1946), 1996
We developed a mathematical model of "respiratory" sinus arrhythmia. The model combines a representation continuous in time of the parasympathetic and sympathetic innervation and the membrane potential of the pace maker cell of the heart with a beat-by-beat representation of the cardiovascular variables like diastolic and systolic blood pressure, pulse

Respiratory Sinus Arrhythmia: A literature review

World Journal of Biology Pharmacy and Health Sciences
Respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA) is a natural variation in heart rate that occurs in synchrony with breathing and serves as a noninvasive indicator of vagal tone. This literature review summarizes current knowledge of RSA and its relevance in physiological and psychological contexts.
