Response Rates

The Cancer Journal, 2009
A main criterion to identify activity in phase II studies is the response rates achieved in a well-defined subset of patients. The response could be defined as a measure of tumor shrinkage. For 30 years, metric methods have been used to assess this response.

Optimizing Response Rates

2017
One way to conceptualize the definition of optimal response rates is to design to maximize the overall response rate. This method is possible, but often means collecting more data from the cases with the highest response propensities. The consequence may be higher nonresponse bias.

When response rates do matter

BMJ, 2001
EDITOR—I read Minerva's contribution about the importance of achieving a 55% response rate in general practitioner surveys.1 There is evidence to suggest that much higher response rates are necessary and that the traditional requirement of a 70% response rate is inadequate. In our survey of …

Heart Rate Response to Racquetball

The Physician and Sportsmedicine, 1981
In brief: Nine male racquetball players were monitored during matches with Opponents of equal, stronger, and weaker ability, and heart rate response and intensity of play were determined. The highest heart rate and percent intensity occurred when the monitored player was weaker than his opponent and the lowest occurred when he was stronger than the ...

Random Fluctuations of Response Rate

Psychometrika, 1962
A simple model for fluctuating interresponse times is developed and studied. It involves a mechanism that generates regularly spaced excitations, each of which can trigger off a response after a random delay. The excitations are not observable, but their periodicity is reflected in a regular patterning of responses.

Survey response rates: Reassessing expectations

Journal of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society
Lay Summary This article reviews different survey response rate definitions and how response rates are connected to research design. Strategies to increase response rates are discussed and suggestions for best practices are provided, including clearly describing how the response rate was calculated.
