PICALM::MLLT10 translocated leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This comprehensive review of PICALM::MLLT10 translocated acute leukemia provides an in‐depth review of the structure and function of CALM, AF10, and the fusion oncoprotein (1). The multifaceted molecular mechanisms of oncogenesis, including nucleocytoplasmic shuttling (2), epigenetic modifications (3), and disruption of endocytosis (4), are then ...

Accelerated hepatitis B vaccination: Efficacy in young, regular blood donors

open access: yesGlobal Journal of Transfusion Medicine, 2020
Background and Objectives: Hepatitis B (HB) – a vaccine-preventable, transfusion-transmitted infection – has been estimated to have high residual risk, especially in medium- and high-endemic areas. This potent immunogenic vaccine is routinely injected at

The Contribution of Growth and Interest Rate Differentials to the Persistence of Real Exchange Rates. [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper employs a new methodology for measuring the contribution of growth and interest rate differentials to the half-life of deviations from Purchasing Power Parity (PPP).

Waveshaping electronic circuit [PDF]

open access: yes, 1971
Circuit provides output signal with sinusoidal function in response to bipolar transition of input signal. Instantaneous transition shapes into linear rate of change and linear rate of change shapes into sinusoidal rate of change.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

The identification of the response of interest rates to monetary policy actions using market-based measures of monetary policy shocks [PDF]

open access: yes
It is common practice to estimate the response of asset prices to monetary policy actions using market-based measures of monetary policy shocks, such as the federal funds futures rate.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

A thermodynamic framework to develop rate-type models for fluids without instantaneous elasticity

open access: yes, 2010
In this paper, we apply the thermodynamic framework recently put into place by Rajagopal and co-workers, to develop rate-type models for viscoelastic fluids which do not possess instantaneous elasticity.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Temporal Variation in the Interest-Rate Response to Money Announcements [PDF]

open access: yes
A number of studies find significant temporal variation in the interest-rate response to money announcement surprises. An unresolved question, however, is whether the response changes immediately as different policy regimes are adopted, or whether the ...
