Prediction of floor responses to crowd bouncing loads by response reduction factor and spectrum method

Advances in Structural Engineering, 2020
Bouncing is a typical rhythmic crowd activity in entertaining venues, such as concert halls and stadia. When the activity’s frequency is close to the natural frequency of the occupied structure, the corresponding bouncing loads can cause intense structural vibrations resulting in vibration serviceability problems, even structural damage.

Some factors responsible for reductions in employment on farms in Hungary

2010
A decline in the number of people working on farms and in the Annual Work Units per unit area was typical of the second half of the first decade of the 21st century in the member states of the European Union. Hungary is one of the countries where this reduction is twice as high as the average. This can be attributed to a number of factors.

FACTORS RESPONSIBLE FOR REDUCTION OF MORTALITY AND MORBIDITY IN PROSTATECTOMY

JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1924
During the years preceding the World War, I was strangely impressed by the fact that there were two schools of prostatectomists. One contended that the only proper way to remove the gland was suprapubically; the other insisted that the perineal was the exclusive route, and practically refused to employ the suprapubic method.

Pathogen Reduction and Correlation to Factors Responsible for Pathogen Reduction in Dairy Farm Operations Treating Agricultural Waste

2010 Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, June 20 - June 23, 2010, 2010
Approximately 350 million tons of manure is produced annually by agriculture in the U.S. Manure disposal at large concentrated animal feeding operations presents a challenge. Anaerobic digestion of livestock manure to reduce odor and produce biogas for energy generation is a profitable waste management option on farms, but out of reach of most farmers ...

Performance-based evaluation of the response reduction factor for ductile RC frames

Engineering Structures, 2013
Abstract Most seismic design codes today include the nonlinear response of a structure implicitly through a ‘response reduction/modification factor’ ( R ). This factor allows a designer to use a linear elastic force-based design while accounting for nonlinear behaviour and deformation limits.

Stress Reduction Coefficient and Amplification Factor for Seismic Response of Ground

International Journal of Geomechanics, 2006
Incorporating the increase of shear modulus with depth (z) by using a depth exponent p , the response of linear visco-elastic ground under steady state harmonic vibration was examined. The soil mass lying above the rigid base was discretized into a large number of horizontal layers.
