Blocking response surface designs

1992
Abstract This chapter, like Chapter 13, is concerned with the design of experiments when the response depends on both qualitative and quantitative factors. For the exact designs of Chapter 13 the number of trials at each level of the qualitative factor is determined by the search algorithm.

Response Surface Designs for Estimating the Optimal Point

Calcutta Statistical Association Bulletin, 1981
The problem considered is that of choosing a k-factor design meant for locating the maximal (or minimal) point of a second order response surface. Using least squares estimates the deficiency of a design is defined as the expected difference between the optimum response and the true response at the estimated optimal point.

Experimental Design: Response Surfaces

1984
Experimental optimization by the sequential simplex method or its modifications involves trivial calculations readily done on a small digital computer or even by hand. Applications in analytical chemistry are almost unlimited. Consider the following common activities of analytical chemists:

The Design of Experiments to Estimate the Slope of a Response Surface

Biometrika, 1970
The main emphasis in statistical work on the design of experiments has been on the comparison of treatments and, especially, on the estimation of treatment contrasts. An exception is in the study of response surface designs, that is in the design of experiments in which the treatments are identified by the values of quantitative variables and in which ...
