Reinforcement of Response Surface Designs
Communications in Statistics - Simulation and Computation, 1989This paper investigates the effect of missing observations in response surface designs and suggests using reinforcement of the design matrix in advance to avoid the consequences of missing observations. The investigations are confined to a central composite design only.

Response Surface Designs for Experiments in Bioprocessing
Biometrics, 2005SummaryMany processes in the biological industries are studied using response surface methodology. The use of biological materials, however, means that run‐to‐run variation is typically much greater than that in many experiments in mechanical or chemical engineering and so the designs used require greater replication.

TAGUCHI PARAMETER DESIGN BY SECOND-ORDER RESPONSE SURFACES
Quality and Reliability Engineering International, 1996The application of response surface methods for the design and analysis of Taguchi parameter design experiments is extensively discussed in a paper by Myers, Khuri and Vining (The American Statistician, 46, 131-139 (1992)). To illustrate the use of response surface analysis, much attention is given in that paper to a response model that is linear in ...

Experimental Design: Response Surfaces
1984Experimental optimization by the sequential simplex method or its modifications involves trivial calculations readily done on a small digital computer or even by hand. Applications in analytical chemistry are almost unlimited. Consider the following common activities of analytical chemists:

Partial Duplication of Response Surface Designs
Technometrics, 1960Continuing the author's earlier work [6] a method is described which requires that certain experimental runs of a central composite, second-order, response surface design be repeated, thereby providing a more general estimate of the experimental error, at the same time providing more reliable estimates of the effects.

Hybrid Designs for Quadratic Response Surfaces
Technometrics, 1976Hybrid designs were created to achieve the same degree of orthogonality as central composite or regular polyhedral designs, to be near-minimum-point, and to be near-rotatable. They resemble central composite designs which have been augmented with at extra variable column. Eight designs are presented covering 3, 4, and 6 variables.

Missing Values in Response Surface Designs
Technometrics, 1961The estimation of missing values for a general design is described and discussed. Formulae are provided for the estimation of missing values for two well-known, three factor, second order rotatable designs, with zero to six center points. A worked example illustrates the use of the formulae in the case of the cube plus octahedron plus one center point ...
