Correspondence Between Resting-State and Episodic Memory-Task Related Networks in Elderly Subjects

open access: yesFrontiers in Aging Neuroscience, 2018
Resting-state fMRI studies demonstrated temporally synchronous fluctuations in brain activity among ensembles of brain regions, suggesting the existence of intrinsic functional networks.

EEG–fMRI mapping of asymmetrical delta activity in a patient with refractory epilepsy is concordant with the epileptogenic region determined by intracranial EEG

open access: yes, 2006
We studied a patient with refractory focal epilepsy using continuous EEG-correlated fMRI. Seizures were characterized by head turning to the left and clonic jerking of the left arm, suggesting a right frontal epileptogenic region.

Frequency-Dependent Relationship Between Resting-State fMRI and Glucose Metabolism in the Elderly [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Both glucose metabolism and resting-state fMRI (RS-fMRI) signal reflect hemodynamic features. The objective of this study was to investigate their relationship in the resting-state in healthy elderly participants (n = 18).

Co-Activation Patterns in Resting-state fMRI Signals

open access: yesNeuroImage, 2018
The brain is a complex system that integrates and processes information across multiple time scales by dynamically coordinating activities over brain regions and circuits.

Integrating multivariate resting‐state fMRI features to localize epileptic networks in common childhood epilepsy

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Accurate localization of epileptic activity remains challenging when interictal discharges are absent or sparse. Although resting‐state functional MRI (rs‐fMRI) is noninvasive, individual rs‐fMRI metrics provide inconsistent and incomplete localization.

Shifted Coupling of EEG Driving Frequencies and fMRI Resting State Networks in Schizophrenia Spectrum Disorders [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
INTRODUCTION: The cerebral resting state in schizophrenia is altered, as has been demonstrated separately by electroencephalography (EEG) and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) resting state networks (RSNs).

Individual‐specific resting‐state networks predict language dominance in drug‐resistant epilepsy

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective This study was undertaken to reliably estimate individual‐specific resting‐state cortical networks and determine whether language network topography can predict task‐based language dominance in drug‐resistant epilepsy. Methods We utilized a multisession hierarchical Bayesian model (MS‐HBM) trained on drug‐resistant epilepsy patients ...

Detecting language network alterations in mild cognitive impairment using task‐based fMRI and resting‐state fMRI: A comparative study

open access: yesBrain and Behavior
Objective The objective of this study was to investigate the functional changes associated with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) using independent component analysis (ICA) with the word generation task functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and ...

Ten Key Insights into the Use of Spinal Cord fMRI

open access: yesBrain Sciences, 2018
A comprehensive review of the literature-to-date on functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) of the spinal cord is presented. Spinal fMRI has been shown, over more than two decades of work, to be a reliable tool for detecting neural activity.

Resting-State fMRI [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Although brain plasticity is greatest in the first few years of life, the brain continues to be shaped by experience throughout adulthood. Advances in fMRI have enabled us to examine the plasticity of large-scale networks using blood oxygen level ...
