Comparison of quantitative flow ratio with instantaneous wave‐free ratio and resting full‐cycle ratio during daily routine in the catheterization laboratory

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, 2023
AbstractBackgroundQuantitative flow ratio (QFR) is a novel, software‐based method to evaluate the physiology of coronary lesions. The aim of this study was to compare QFR with the established invasive measurements of coronary blood flow using instantaneous wave‐free ratio (iFR) or resting full‐cycle ratio (RFR) in daily cathlab routine.Methods102 ...

Methods and protocols for incremental exercise testing in tetraplegia, using arm-crank ergometry assisted by Functional Electrical Stimulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Cervical spinal cord injury (SCI) leads to tetraplegia, with paralysis and loss of sensation in the upper and lower limbs. The associated sedentary lifestyle results in an increased risk of cardiovascular disease.

Heterogeneity in HIV and cellular transcription profiles in cell line models of latent and productive infection: implications for HIV latency. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
BackgroundHIV-infected cell lines are widely used to study latent HIV infection, which is considered the main barrier to HIV cure. We hypothesized that these cell lines differ from each other and from cells from HIV-infected individuals in the mechanisms

Debate: Angiography-derived FFR. The angiographic perspective

open access: yesREC: Interventional Cardiology (English Ed.), 2020
QUESTION: Compared to the pressure guidewire what possible advantages does coronary angiography-derived fractional flow reserve (FFRangio) have and what is the current clinical evidence?

Porous-based rheological model for tissue fluidisation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
It has been experimentally observed that cells exhibit a fluidisation process when subjected to a transient stretch, with an eventual recovery of the mechanical properties upon removal of the applied deformation.

Export fluxes in a naturally iron-fertilized area of the Southern Ocean – Part 2: Importance of diatom resting spores and faecal pellets for export [PDF]

open access: yesBiogeosciences, 2015
The biological composition of the material exported to a moored sediment trap located under the winter mixed layer of the naturally fertilized Kerguelen Plateau in the Southern Ocean was studied over an annual cycle.

Discordance predictor between fractional flow reserve and resting full-cycle ratio in clinical characteristics

open access: yesEuropean Heart Journal, 2020
Abstract Introduction Fractional flow reserve (FFR) is a gold standard method to evaluate functional lesion severity in daily clinical practice. Recently, the resting full-cycle ratio (RFR) which was newly developed resting indices was launched.

Physiologically motivated multiplex Kuramoto model describes phase diagram of cortical activity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We derive a two-layer multiplex Kuramoto model from weakly coupled Wilson-Cowan oscillators on a cortical network with inhibitory synaptic time delays.

A debate: RFF derivada de la angiografía. Perspectiva desde la angiografía

open access: yesREC: Interventional Cardiology, 2020
PREGUNTA: ¿Qué posibles ventajas tiene respecto a la guía de presión y cuáles son las evidencias clínicas actuales de la reserva fraccional de flujo calculada por angiografía (angio-RFF)?

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox
