Spatial–Temporal Evolution and Coupling and Coordination of “Production–Life–Ecological” in Energy-Rich Area: A Perspective on Structure and Function

open access: yesLand
The conflict between socio-economic development and ecological protection is prominent, as the practice framework for territorial spatial planning and the rational layout and function coordination of production–life–ecological (PLE) spaces are crucial ...

Increased organic fertilizer significantly increases leaf nitrogen and phosphorus but not carbon content in a tropical tea plantation

open access: yesScientific Reports
Carbon (C), nitrogen (N), and phosphorus (P) are essential elements for plant growth and metabolism, with their stoichiometry playing a pivotal role in ecosystem functioning.

Trophic Diversity in Duckweed: Mixotrophy, More Than the Sum of its Extremes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the context of rising DOC in aquatic environments, mixotrophic duckweed may impact carbon cycling by acting as either a carbon sink, as they absorb CO2 through photosynthesis, or a carbon source, as they release CO2 through respiration of absorbed DOC, which depends on DOC concentration, light availability, temperature, and other environmental ...

Sulfated Cyclocarya Paliurus Polysaccharide Sorchestrates the Gut Microbiome to Mobilize a Host‐Derived 12‐HEPE Against Ulcerative Colitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A sulfated polysaccharide (SCP) from Cyclocarya paliurus alleviates ulcerative colitis by reshaping the gut microbiome. This remodeled microbiota orchestrates the upregulation of the host‐derived lipid 12‐HEPE, which directly inhibits the TLR4/NF‐κB pathway to suppress inflammation.

Seed rain and soil seed banks limit native regeneration within urban forest restoration plantings in Hamilton City, New Zealand

open access: yes, 2012
Restoration of native forest vegetation in urban environments may be limited due to isolation from native seed sources and to the prevalence of exotic plant species.

Cooperative Interplay Between PGPR and Trichoderma longibrachiatum Reprograms the Rhizosphere Microecology for Improved Saline Alkaline Stress Resilience in Rice Seedlings

open access: yesMicroorganisms
Soil salinization has become a major obstacle to global agricultural sustainability. While microbial inoculants show promise for remediation, the functional coordination between Trichoderma and PGPR in saline alkali rhizospheres requires systematic ...

NFYB Integrates Hormonal Signals into Tissue Allometry by Promoting Protein Biosynthesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the American cockroach, NFYB acts as a spatiotemporin that translates distinct hormonal cues into tissue‐specific allometry. Juvenile hormone activates NFYB in the early fat body, while 20‐hydroxyecdysone induces it in late wing pads. NFYB then promotes protein biosynthesis via core translational machinery, driving differential growth across the ...

Multidimensional insights into drought-induced esculin accumulation and its exogenous application enhanced drought tolerance in seedlings of Fraxinus mandshurica

open access: yesIndustrial Crops and Products
Secondary metabolites are products of plant adaptation to environmental conditions, and elucidating their functions can provide novel strategies for enhancing stress resilience in agriculture and ecology.

Extra Climate Benefits From Afforestation Due to Reduced Forest Fragmentation in China

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Afforestation in China reduced forest fragmentation in 2015, transforming 51.8 M ha of edge forests into interior forests. This enhanced carbon sequestration (1.4±0.2 Pg CO2e, a cooling biogeochemical effect), while reduced albedo (−0.9 Pg CO2e, a warming biophysical effect) partially offset the gain, yielding a net extra climate benefit of ...
