Application of Moments for Restoration of an Image Transmitted Through Long Multimode GRIN Fibres
Journal of Modern Optics, 1989Abstract In this paper a new method of restoration of an image transmitted through a gradient-index (GRIN) fibre waveguide is considered. Instead of the difficulty in optical system mode decomposition of an output signal we suggest an easily realized moment decomposition.

Evolution of Rotations of a Rigid Body Under the Action of Restoring and Control Moments
Volume 6: 5th International Conference on Multibody Systems, Nonlinear Dynamics, and Control, Parts A, B, and C, 2005Perturbed rotations of a rigid body close to the regular precession in the Lagrangian case under the action of a restoring moment depending on slow time and nutation angle, as well as a perturbing moment slowly varying with time, are studied. The body is assumed to spin rapidly, and the restoring and perturbing moments are assumed to be small with a ...

This paper examines the influence of stability characteristics on roll motion in the main parametric resonance region. For this purpose, parametrically exited roll motion was modeled as a single degree of freedom system considering heave and pitch effects by means of time varying restoring moment.

Journal of Economic Geography, 2002
The paper revisits the works of Barry Bluestone and Bennett Harrison in order to develop a critical commentary on the post-1970s restructuring path of the US economy. It is argued that Bluestone and Harrison's three major books (The Deindustrialization of America, The Great U-Turn , and Growing Prosperity ) not only provide compelling, real-time ...

Moment-curvature restoring force model of PVC-CFRP confined concrete column-RC ring beam joint
Advances in Structural EngineeringTo accurately characterize the nonlinear mechanical behavior of polyvinyl chloride-carbon fiber reinforced polymer (PVC-CFRP) confined concrete column-reinforced concrete (RC) ring beam joints under low cyclic loading, 11 ring beam joints are designed based on the principle of “strong members and weak joints” and subsequently fabricated.

Closed solutions of one-dimensional unperturbed Ordinary Differential Equations (near Hamiltonian systems) are obtained when the restoring force is represented by a quintic polynomial (with either three or five zeros). This is of great practical interest for the study of rolling ship motion with both configurations of vanishing stability and lolling ...
