Abstract Although tearing is most often considered mechanical damage, it plays a central role in blade development in the bull kelp Nereocystis luetkeana. Although developmental tearing has been described in other macrophytes, the presence of a line of dehiscence that directs fracture apart from reproduction or abscission remains rare and poorly ...

Abstract Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction is a frequently performed procedure in arthroscopic surgery, with rising rates paralleling the incidence of anterior cruciate ligament ruptures worldwide. Synthetic grafts, especially hybrid constructs combining artificial devices with autologous tissue, offer biomechanical advantages and potential ...

Osteoarthritis: Epidemiology, Diagnosis, and Treatment
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a multifactorial degenerative joint disease and a leading cause of disability worldwide. This graphical abstract summarizes the epidemiology, diagnostic strategies, and therapeutic approaches of OA. OA development is driven by aging, metabolic dysregulation, and mechanical stress, leading to progressive joint degeneration ...

Measurement Manipulation of the Matrix Sensing Problem to Improve Optimization Landscape
This work studies the matrix sensing (MS) problem through the lens of the Restricted Isometry Property (RIP). It has been shown in several recent papers that two different techniques of convex relaxations and local search methods for the MS problem both ...

Network monitoring is fundamental to effective traffic engineering (TE) in quantum networks and although nondestructive techniques such as weak measurement, quantum non‐demolition (QND) measurement, and protective measurement have been proposed, their roles in supporting TE have not been systematically examined. This paper proposes a unified analytical

Prickleback fishes (Stichaeidae) feed upon diverse diets, spanning carnivory (orange), omnivory (blue), and herbivory (green). We used microCT scanning to explore the functional morphology of the oral jaws and dentition across species and ontogeny. Focal species vary by morphotype and have divergent scaling patterns across diets.
