Tumor clusters with divergent inflammation and human retroelement expression determine the clinical outcome of patients with serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Analysis of treatment‐naïve high‐grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC) and control tissues for ERVs, LINE‐1 (L1), inflammation, and immune checkpoints identified five clusters with diverse patient recurrence‐free survivals. An inflammation score was calculated and correlated with retroelement expression, where one novel cluster (Triple‐I) with high ...

Transient Three-Dimensional Startup Side Load Analysis of a Regeneratively Cooled Nozzle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The objective of this effort is to develop a computational methodology to capture the startup side load physics and to anchor the computed aerodynamic side loads with the available data from a regeneratively cooled, high-aspect-ratio nozzle, hot-fired at

Integrative miRNOMe profiling reveals the miR‐195‐5p–CHEK1 axis and its impact on luminal breast cancer outcomes

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In luminal (ER+) breast carcinoma (BC), miRNA profiling identified miR‐195‐5p as a key regulator of proliferation that targets CHEK1, CDC25A, and CCNE1. High CHEK1 expression correlates with worse relapse‐free survival after chemotherapy, especially in patients with luminal A subtype.

Whistler mode waves upstream of Saturn [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Whistler-mode waves are generated within and can propagate upstream of collisionless shocks. They are known to play a role in electron thermodynamics/acceleration and, under certain conditions, are markedly observed as wave trains preceding the shock ...

Repeat Expansions in PLIN4 Cause Autosomal Dominant Vacuolar Myopathy With Sarcolemmal Features

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective We aim to describe and characterize two unrelated Spanish families suffering from an autosomal dominant autophagic vacuolar myopathy caused by repeat expansions in PLIN4. Methods We evaluated the clinical phenotype and muscle imaging, and performed a genetic workup that included exome sequencing, muscle RNAseq, and long‐read genome ...

Inhibition of Glutamine Metabolism Attenuates Tumor Progression Through Remodeling of the Macrophage Immune Microenvironment

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
The prodrug strategy used in this study offers new promise for cancer metabolism‐based therapies. JHU083, a prodrug that, when cleaved by protease in the tumor microenvironment, yields the glutamine antagonist DON. JHU083 inhibits tumor growth by targeting glutamine‐addicted cancer cells and suppressing glutamine‐dependent M2 macrophages, leading to a ...

Black Hole Formation in Fallback Supernova and the Spins of LIGO Sources

open access: yes, 2018
Here we investigate within the context of field binary progenitors how the the spin of LIGO sources vary when the helium star-descendent black hole (BH) is formed in a failed supernova (SN) explosion rather than by direct collapse.
