Restrictions of Fourier transforms of continuous measures [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1973
Let G G denote a compact abelian group and Γ \Gamma its discrete dual. It is proved that E ⊂ Γ E \subset \Gamma is Sidon if and only if the restriction to E E of the algebra of Fourier transforms of continuous measures on G G is all of

On restricted approximation measures of Jacobi’s triple product

open access: yesThe Ramanujan Journal, 2023
AbstractWe obtain rational approximations for Jacobi’s triple product $$\begin{aligned} \Pi _q(t):= \prod _{m=1}^\infty (1-q^{2m})(1+q^{2m-1}t)(1+q^{2m-1}t^{-1}), \end{aligned}$$ Π

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

Restrictions on International Competition through Government Measures [PDF]

open access: yesWorld Competition, 1983
The seventies can be seen as the decade where the ingenuity of the human mind knew no bounds to the invention of new non-tariff barriers, circumventing the original GATT rules. Where has this neoprotectionism led so far and what is the outlook for the future?

Detecting independence of random vectors: generalized distance covariance and Gaussian covariance

open access: yes, 2018
Distance covariance is a quantity to measure the dependence of two random vectors. We show that the original concept introduced and developed by Sz\'{e}kely, Rizzo and Bakirov can be embedded into a more general framework based on symmetric L\'{e}vy ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.
