Soft-gluon resummation effects on parton distributions
We gauge the impact of soft-gluon resummation on quark distributions by performing a simple fit of Deep Inelastic Scattering structure function data using NLO and NLL-resummed coefficient functions.

This essay introduces the themed cluster of articles, ‘Towards a linguistic anthropology of AI’. The advent of artificial intelligence (AI), especially in large language models capable of producing coherent discourse mimicking conversational interaction, is exerting unprecedented pressure on prevailing concepts of language, personhood, and the human ...

Amid the general sense of worry that large language models will soon drown out human voices, some researchers are optimistic that machine learning will allow humans to listen to and understand animal voices to an unprecedented extent. As part of a broader project aimed at interspecies communication, a loosely connected set of animal behaviourists, AI ...

Multi-differential resummation for the LHC
Differential measurements at the LHC involve many physical scalesset by the hard production process and soft or collinear QCD dynamics. When these scales are widely separated, the perturbative series becomes dominated by logarithms of their ratios.Precise

What does it take to turn a tool into a talking tool and that into an ultimate authority? Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in its diverse forms, such as large language models (LLMs), is celebrated as a useful tool. But LLM‐based conversational agents, or chatbots, the software applications through which ordinary users are likely to engage ...

Resummations for inflationary quantum gravity
The continual production of gravitons during inflation endows loop corrections with secular logarithms which grow nonperturbatively large during a prolonged period of inflation. The physics behind these effects is reviewed, along with a catalog of the examples which have so far been found.

Contemporary artificial intelligence (AI) technologies are often presumed to be capable of revealing unmediated truths about the world, including the truths language might hold, echoing the long‐standing assertion that language's primary function is to directly translate reality.

Our current understanding of the origins of Homo sapiens is limited, in part, by the fragmented fossil record from Late Pleistocene and early Holocene Africa. Here, we re‐examine the Kabua 1 cranium, an enigmatic and little‐studied Kenyan fossil discovered in the 1950s. We compare virtual reconstructions created previously by our team with a wide range

The Eastern Mediterranean lies directly on the principal migration route for human groups dispersing across Africa, Europe, and Asia. It also encompasses the Balkans, where fauna and flora, as well as hominin populations, are thought to have persisted through glacial periods.
