The most effective action in neonatal resuscitation is ventilation. A novel algorithm for mask ventilation, the “Five Breath Method”, incorporates steps that an airway expert would use, from least to most invasive. Training in the “Five Breath Method” leads to immediate improvement in mask ventilation and retention of this skill.

Regional outbreak of parvovirus B19 acute myocarditis in preschool children
We recently came across an outbreak of parvovirus B19 related acute myocarditis in preschool children in a specific region in northern Greece. The children exhibited serious morbidity and mortality. All children had very poor left ventricular ejection fraction and required inotropic intensive care unit support.

Numerous T wave morphology biomarkers, which can supplement QTc assessment in long QT syndrome (LQTS), have been identified. Their diagnostic capabilities include differentiation of genotypes, identification of concealed LQTS, differentiating acquired LQTS from congenital LQTS; and determining multichannel versus hERG channel blockade.
