Glycosylated LGALS3BP is highly secreted by bladder cancer cells and represents a novel urinary disease biomarker

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urinary LGALS3BP is elevated in bladder cancer patients compared to healthy controls as detected by the 1959 antibody–based ELISA. The antibody shows enhanced reactivity to the high‐mannose glycosylated variant secreted by cancer cells treated with kifunensine (KIF).

Burn Resuscitation [PDF]

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Trauma, Resuscitation and Emergency Medicine, 2011
Fluid resuscitation following burn injury must support organ perfusion with the least amount of fluid necessary and the least physiological cost. Under resuscitation may lead to organ failure and death. With adoption of weight and injury size-based formulas for resuscitation, multiple organ dysfunction and inadequate resuscitation have become uncommon.

Facts, Legends and Myths on the Evolution of Resuscitation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This study aimed to overview in chronological order a number of "facts" and "myths" that have been reported in the literature on the history of resuscitation.

Inhaled nitric oxide as an adjunct to neonatal resuscitation in premature infants: a pilot, double blind, randomized controlled trial. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
BackgroundNitric oxide (NO) plays an important role in normal postnatal transition. Our aims were to determine whether adding inhaled NO (iNO) decreases supplemental oxygen exposure in preterm infants requiring positive pressure ventilation (PPV) during ...

Association of Intra-arrest Transport vs Continued On-Scene Resuscitation With Survival to Hospital Discharge Among Patients With Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest.

open access: yesJournal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), 2020
Importance There is wide variability among emergency medical systems (EMS) with respect to transport to hospital during out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) resuscitative efforts.

Expanding Hereditary Spastic Paraplegias Limits: Biallelic SPAST Variants in Cerebral Palsy Mimics

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Hereditary spastic paraplegias (HSP) are rare neurodegenerative disorders marked by spasticity and lower limb weakness. The most common type, SPG4, is usually autosomal dominant and caused by SPAST gene variants, typically presenting as pure HSP.

C-Jun N-terminal kinase 2 promotes liver injury via the mitochondrial permeability transition after hemorrhage and resuscitation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Hemorrhagic shock leads to hepatic hypoperfusion and activation of mitogen-activated stress kinases (MAPK) like c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) 1 and 2. Our aim was to determine whether mitochondrial dysfunction leading to hepatic necrosis and apoptosis ...

Guided Bone Regeneration Membrane Materials Loaded with Chimeric Nanovesicles Promote Early Bone Defect Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Early bone regeneration is challenged by poor osteogenic microenvironments. We developed a novel guided bone regeneration (GBR) membrane: a plasma‐treated polycaprolactone (PT‐PCL) electrospun nanofiber functionalized with ultrasound sequentially extruded stromal vascular fraction chimeric vesicles (USE‐SCNVs). USE‐SCNVs require less equipment, enhance

Focus on Italian hyperbaric centers: lights and shadows in the pediatric field. [PDF]

open access: yesPediatric Anesthesia and Critical Care Journal (PACCJ)
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is often underesti- mated due to limited awareness of its therapeutic poten- tial and the scarce availability of specialized centers in Italy, whose distribution across the country is highly un- even.
