Identification and modeling of particle resuspension in the urban environment

open access: yes
Resuspension of particulate matter (PM) is a significant contributor to urban air pollution, reintroducing deposited particles into the air. Wind-induced resuspension process, often described using typical U-shaped PM concentration vs.

Wind and saltation driven particle resuspension in a wind tunnel

open access: yes, 1985
To determine parameters of primary importance in wind and saltation driven resuspension of fine particles from surfaces, wind tunnel experiments were conducted to study the resuspension of small polydisperse particles (diameter 80 ..mu..m).

Cell surface CD11c as a neutrophil aging marker molecule

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cell surface CD11chi neutrophils were more aged and had better phagocytic function than CD11c−/lo neutrophils. Transcriptomic analysis of CD11chi neutrophils and CD11c−/lo neutrophils in pediatric population showed that the most difference was seen in infants.

The investigation of impact induced particle resuspension

open access: yes, 2014
Breathing in excessive airborne pollutants can be detrimental to one’s health which may lead to respiratory diseases. As humans spend up to 87% of their time indoors (Jenkins, Phillips, Mulberg, & Hui, 1992), it is of paramount importance to study the ...

Genetic dissection of human ABCE1 in yeast reveals separable requirements for ribosome recycling and suppression of aberrant reinitiation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Human ABCE1 cannot functionally replace its yeast ortholog. Yeast–human chimera analysis identified NBD1 as a major interspecies barrier. Genetic screening yielded hABCE1 revertants that rescue yeast viability but fail to suppress aberrant translation reinitiation in the 3′ UTR.

Type I interferons modulate autophagy to shape gemcitabine response in pancreatic cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Type I interferons differentially modulate autophagy and the response of pancreatic cancer cells to gemcitabine. IFNα2b stimulates autophagic flux and protects cells from gemcitabine‐induced cell death, contributing to chemoresistance. In contrast, IFNβ1a inhibits autophagosome formation and enhances gemcitabine‐induced cell death, resulting in ...
