Optic disc swelling associated with retained metallic intraocular foreign body

We report a case of a man in his 40s who presented with a swollen optic disc and a metallic intraocular foreign body (IOFB) impacted on the retinal surface of the same eye. The IOFB was removed by vitrectomy and the swelling of the optic nerve slowly resolved.
