Functional role and folding properties of the glucan‐binding domain of oral bacterial glucansucrase
The role of the glucan‐binding domain in Streptococcus sobrinus glucansucrase was examined, focusing on its impact on enzymatic activity, dextran binding, and structural stability of deletion mutants and a circularly permuted protein. Our research revealed that glucosyl transfer efficiency is linked to cooperative interdomain folding.

“Membership Retention in the Fitness Industry: A Qualitative Study and the Development of a Predictive Model" [PDF]
The concern over poor membership retention rates in the fitness industry is increasing, yet it has attracted little empirical research. So far, membership retention has mostly been indirectly and narrowly addressed, whereby research has either measured ...

The yeast mitoribosome assembly factor Rsm22 contains a [4Fe‐4S] cluster that is matured by the mitochondrial iron–sulfur cluster assembly (ISC) machinery. Defects in ISC components result in impaired mitochondrial protein synthesis due to a mitoribosome assembly defect.

Exploring lipid diversity and minimalism to define membrane requirements for synthetic cells
Designing the lipid membrane of synthetic cells is a complex task, in which its various roles (among them solute transport, membrane protein support, and self‐replication) should all be integrated. In this review, we report the latest top‐down and bottom‐up advances and discuss compatibility and complexity issues of current engineering approaches ...

Dichloroaniline retention by nanofiltration membranes [PDF]
This study evaluates the performance of two nanofiltration membranes in removing a herbicide: dichloroaniline. The membranes, one polyamide and one cellulose acetate, have a cut-off in the range 150–300 g/mol (manufacturers’ data). The experiments were

The Arabidopsis mutants hls1 hlh1 and amp1 lamp1 exhibit pleiotropic developmental phenotypes. Although the functions of the causative genes remain unclear, they act in the same genetic pathway and are thought to generate non‐cell‐autonomous signals.
