Retention Forces for Drops on Microstructured Superhydrophobic Surfaces
Langmuir, 2022Accurate models of retention forces between drops and superhydrophobic (SH) surfaces are required to predict drop dynamics on the surface. This retention force is, in turn, useful in modeling heat transfer rates for dropwise condensation on a SH surface.

Influence of Implant Angulation and Cyclic Dislodging on the Retentive Force of Two Different Overdenture Attachments – An in Vitro Study [PDF]
OBJECTIVE This in vitro study evaluated the influence of implant angulations on the retentive behavior of two overdenture attachments during cyclic dislodging. METHODS Models simulating a two-implant overdenture situation were fabricated.

Retention of Relative Force in the Scaling of a Serial Force Pattern with an Attenuated-Force Tap
Perceptual and Motor Skills, 2001The present study was designed to examine the retention of relative force in the scaling of a serial force pattern in a finger-tapping sequence using an attenuated tap. On practice trials, 12 undergraduate students tapped a force plate connected to strain gauges that gave them feedback about the force.

Dental Implant Retentive Force Analysis
2021 Global Medical Engineering Physics Exchanges/Pan American Health Care Exchanges (GMEPE/PAHCE), 2021A dental prosthesis, by mimetizing the natural teeth, plays an important role in the maintenance of oral functions (eating, speaking and equilibrium). As the population gets older, the use of implants and implant-supported prosthesis is rising for the replacement of missing teeth.

Surface adhesion and retentive force of cements
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1984Z inc phosphate cement has been used as a standard luting agent for cast restorations for many years. The retentive force of the cement measured 13% surface adhesion and 87% interlocking force when analyzed by Fusayama et al.’ with cylindric inlays. Polycarboxylate cement proved to be superior to zinc phosphate cement in adhesion to tooth substances ...

Optimal Retention Force of Audio Processor Magnets
Otology & Neurotology, 2019Hypothesis: Audio processor magnets used in transcutaneous active hearing implants vary in retention force. We hypothesized that a range of optimal magnetic retention forces could be derived, based on objective in-situ measurements of individual retention forces.

Drop Retention Force as a Function of Resting Time
Langmuir, 2008The force, f, required to slide a drop on a surface is shown to be a growing function of the time, t, that the drop waited resting on the surface prior to the commencement of sliding. In this first report on the resting time effect, we demonstrate the existence of this phenomenon in different systems, which suggests that this phenomenon is general.

Drop Retention Force as a Function of Drop Size
Langmuir, 2008The force, f, required to slide a drop past a surface is often considered in the literature as linear with the drop width, w, so that f/w = const. Furthermore, according to the Dussan equation for the case that the advancing and receding contact angles are constant with drop size, one can further simplify the above proportionality to f/V(1/3) = const ...

The change in retentive force of magnetic attachment by abrasion
Odontology, 2008Magnets are frequently applied to removable dentures as retentive attachments. A magnet-retained removable overdenture might be slightly shifted from side to side by eccentric movement in the mouth, and the surface of magnetic attachment may be worn as a result.

Development of a work-force retention program
American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy, 2008The increasing demand for pharmacy services and the continued shortage of pharmacists have illuminated the need for creating a work-force retention program as part of work-force planning efforts.
