Treatment of Retinal Arterial Occlusion

The various possibilities of treating arterial retinal occlusions are reviewed. Although thrombolysis is regarded today as the most dependable therapeutic method it has the most contraindications and carries the highest risk. There are less contraindications to anticoagulative treatment. The results are, however, not as good as with thrombolysis.

Congenital Tortuosity of the Retinal Arteries

A 65-year-old woman who had no ocular complaints was examined and was found to have tortuous arteries in both posterior poles of the fundus. Visual acuity was 20/20 in each eye, and the results of the remainder of the ocular examination were normal. There were no significant systemic abnormalities.
