Retinal detachment in albinism
To report the visual and anatomic outcomes of albino retinal detachment (ARD) repair.Collaborative retrospective analysis of ARD. Outcome measures were number of surgical interventions, final retinal reattachment, and best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) at last follow-up.Seventeen eyes of 16 patients (12 males; mean age =37.8 years) had the following ...

Therapeutic nano‐drug delivery systems interact with cellular mitochondria in a multitude of ways. While the complexity of such interactions disrupts the mitochondrial electron transport chain and increases reactive oxygen species production, thereby contributing to nanoparticle toxicity, they also present unique theranostic opportunities in diseases ...

The detections of retinopathy symptoms and tractional retinal detachment
Since the symptoms of the diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and many other eye diseases are often associated with the bright spots, dark spots, and vascular abnormalities in retinal images, this study proposes a retinopathy image segmentation ...

Anaesthesia for retinal detachment [PDF]
Nitrous oxide gas (N2O) rather than volatile anaesthetic agents should be avoided in the management of retinal detachment.1 Nitrous oxide is highly insoluble in blood and can diffuse and expand into gas filled spaces because it is 40 times more soluble than nitrogen. Volatile anaesthetic agents are liquid at room temperature but evaporate easily for …

A Whole‐Head Finite Element Model for Electrical Neuromodulation via Visual Brain‐Machine Interfaces
A multimodal, personalized head model is presented that integrates the entire visual pathway with surrounding tissues to simulate electrical stimulation of the optic nerve. In vivo validation in humans and goats, plus systematic component‐elimination analysis, demonstrates the high accuracy of the comprehensive model.

A Retrospective Observational Study on Retinal Detachment at a Tertiary Care Centre from Andhra Pradesh, India [PDF]
Introduction: Retinal detachment refers to the separation of the neurosensory retina from the underlying Retinal Pigment Epithelium (RPE). For normal retinal function, the retina must remain in close contact with the RPE, and detachment that affects the ...
