The Patient with Retinal Detachment

AJN, American Journal of Nursing, 1957
RETINAL detachment is a disease in which sudden blindness incapacitates the body, fear may derange the mind, and satisfactory treatment must overcome both. It is a disease in which it is more evident than in many others that proper healing depends on a closely integrated team made up of the patient, the nurse, and the doctor, and no member of the team ...

Pseudophakic retinal detachment

Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology, 1991
A total of 93 cases of pseudophakic retinal detachment are reported. The present study showed that vitreous loss had occurred during cataract surgery in 28% of eyes, indicating that anterior segment complications are an important contributory factor to aphakic retinal detachment in these cases.

RETINAL DETACHMENT AND APHAKIA [PDF]

open access: possibleArchives of Ophthalmology, 1951
DURING 1948 and 1949, 387 cases of detachment were referred to the Retina Service of the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary for treatment. Cases of aphakia numbered 88, or 23 per cent. In eight cases there were bilateral aphakia and detachment. The purpose of this paper is to analyze our findings and discuss our results in cases of detachment and ...

Pseudophakic Retinal Detachments

Retina, 1985
Primary scleral buckling procedures were performed for rhegmatogenous retinal detachments in a consecutive series of 179 pseudophakic eyes. Most cases involved eyes in which extracapsular surgery had been combined with iridocapsular implants or posterior chamber lenses or in which iris-fixation IOLs were placed following intracapsular surgery.

Retinal detachment.

BMJ clinical evidence, 2016
Rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD) is the most common form of retinal detachment, where a retinal "break" allows the ingress of fluid from the vitreous cavity to the subretinal space, resulting in retinal separation. It occurs in about 1 in 10,000 people a year.We conducted a systematic review and aimed to answer the following clinical questions ...

Aphakic Retinal Detachment

Ophthalmologica, 1977
The incidence of aphakia in our series of retinal detachment is 14.82%. The incidence of retinal detachment in aphakia is 2.74%. The use of alpha-chymotrypsin does not influence this incidence. In our own patients, we did not find a sex predominance, although there was a predominance of the male sex in the referred group.
