Tuning Retinex parameters [PDF]
Our goal is to understand how the Retinex parameters affect the predictions of the model. A simplified Retinex computation is specified in the recent MATLAB TM implementation; however, there remain several free parameters that introduce significant variability into the model's predictions. We extend previous work on specifying these parameters.

DEANet: Decomposition Enhancement and Adjustment Network for Low-Light Image Enhancement
Poor illumination greatly affects the quality of obtained images. In this paper, a novel convolutional neural network named DEANet is proposed on the basis of Retinex for low-light image enhancement.

Northern Maize Leaf Blight Detection Under Complex Field Environment Based on Deep Learning
Northern maize leaf blight is one of the major diseases that endanger the health of maize. The complex background of the field and different light intensity make the detection of diseases more difficult.

Several different implementations of the Retinex model have been derived from the original Land and McCann’s paper. This paper aims at presenting the Milano-Retinex family, a collection of slightly different Retinex implementations, developed by the Department of Computer Science of Universita degli Studi di Milano. One important difference is in their

An Improved Algorithm for Low-Light Image Enhancement Based on RetinexNet
Due to the influence of the environment and the limit of optical equipment, low-light images produce problems such as low brightness, high noise, low contrast, and color distortion, which have a great impact on their visual perception and the following ...

Lightness and Retinex Theory [PDF]
Sensations of color show a strong correlation with reflectance, even though the amount of visible light reaching the eye depends on the product of reflectance and illumination. The visual system must achieve this remarkable result by a scheme that does not measure flux. Such a scheme is described as the basis of retinex theory. This theory assumes that

Many different descriptions of Retinex methods of lightness computation exist. We provide concise MATLAB™ implementations of two of the spatial techniques of making pixel comparisons. The code is presented, along with test results on several images and a discussion of the results.

Retinex Low-Illumination Image Enhancement Algorithm Based on Light Image Estimation [PDF]
The images collected in low-illumination environment are limited in the contrast, and suffer from detail loss and noise interference. To address the problem, a Retinex-based method is proposed to improve illumination map estimation and realize low ...

Retinex Poisson Equation: a Model for Color Perception
In 1964 Edwin H. Land formulated the Retinex theory, the first attempt to simulate and explain how the human visual system perceives color. Unfortunately, the Retinex Land-McCann original algorithm is both complex and not fully specified.

Random Spray Retinex: A New Retinex Implementation to Investigate the Local Properties of the Model [PDF]
In order to investigate the local filtering behavior of the Retinex model, we propose a new implementation in which paths are replaced by 2-D pixel sprays, hence the name "random spray Retinex." A peculiar feature of this implementation is the way its parameters can be controlled to perform spatial investigation.
