Analysis of the retinex theory of color vision

Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 1986
If color appearance is to be a useful feature in identifying an object, then color appearance must remain roughly constant when the object is viewed in different contexts. People maintain approximate color constancy despite variation in the color of nearby objects and despite variation in the spectral power distribution of the ambient light.

Influence Theory for Retinex Models

Topical Meeting on Color Appearance, 1987
The color constancy problem is one of calculating reflectance values for surfaces under differing illuminants. Retinex theory (e.g., Land, 1986) states that relative receptor responses are used to recover surface reflectance after they have been normalized with respect to the responses of neighboring receptor responses.

Enhancement of Infrared Image Based on the Retinex Theory

2007 29th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2007
The infrared imaging technique can be used to image the temperature distribution of the body. It's hopeful to be applied to the diagnosis and prediction of many diseases. Image processing is necessary to enhance the original infrared images because of the blurring.

Research on image enhancement algorithm based on Retinex theory

Proceedings of the 2020 4th International Conference on Electronic Information Technology and Computer Engineering, 2020
Retinex is a method to simulate the imaging principle of human brain visual cortex, which has been widely used in solving uneven illumination. This paper introduces the origin and development of the Retinex theory firstly. Then according to the current research status of the Retinex model is divided into three types: Path-based model, variational model

Low-Light Aerial Image Enhancement Algorithm Based on Retinex Theory

2023 International Conference on Image Processing, Computer Vision and Machine Learning (ICICML), 2023
The existing low-light image enhancement algorithms are ineffective for UAV aerial images due to challenges such as mountain shading and insufficient illumination during cloud imaging.

A Retinex theory based point sampling method

2011 International Conference of Soft Computing and Pattern Recognition (SoCPaR), 2011
To accelerate the processing for integration, registration, representation and recognition of point clouds, it is of growing necessity to simplify the surface of 3-D models. This paper proposes a Retinex theory based points sampling method and the effectiveness of the sampling results are demonstrated by the registration.

Recent Advances in Retinex Theory

Vision Research, 1985
It is a cultural commonplace deriving from Newton that the colour of an object we see in the world around us depends on the relative amounts of red light, green light, and blue light coming from that object to our eyes. For a very long time it has been known that the colour of the object when it is part of a general scene will not change markedly with ...

RRANet: low-light image enhancement based on Retinex theory and residual attention

International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Computer Engineering (ICAICE 2022), 2023
Low-light image enhancement is to restore the image acquired under insufficient light conditions to the normal exposure image. The low-light image enhancement method based on Retinex theory is a common method.
