Retina, 2017To evaluate the occurrence and characteristics of outer retinal tubulation (ORT) in an Indian population with retinal dystrophies.In this retrospective study, 309 eyes of 157 patients with retinal dystrophies including retinitis pigmentosa (RP, 183 eyes), Stargardt disease (STGD, 93 eyes) and Best disease (33 eyes) were reviewed.

The patient was empirically treated for viral retinitis, but microbiological testing of the vitreous fluid was negative.

Retinal Aneurysms in Adult Cytomegalovirus Retinitis
American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1978We observed aneurysms of the retinal arteries, capillaries, and venules occurring in a patient with cytomegalovirus retinitis. These aneurysms were caused by involvement of the retinal vascular endothelium resulting in focal weaknesses in the vascular walls. The clinical appearance of this retinitis superficially resembled retinal branch vein occlusion.

Retinal Detachments in Patients With Cytomegalovirus Retinitis
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1991Retinal detachments are a recognized complication of cytomegalovirus retinitis. In a series of 145 patients with cytomegalovirus retinitis, 38 (26%) developed retinal detachments. The cumulative probability of a retinal detachment 1 year after the diagnosis of cytomegalovirus retinitis was 50%.

The appearances of cytomegalovirus retinitis are described in a body who was receiving maintenance immunosuppressive therapy for lymphatic leukaemia. The retinitis improved on cessation of the treatment and settled completely after an injection of lymphocyte dialysable transfer factor.
