Vitamin A metabolism is changed in donors after living-kidney transplantation: an observational study

open access: yesLipids in Health and Disease, 2011
Background The kidneys are essential for the metabolism of vitamin A (retinol) and its transport proteins retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP4) and transthyretin.

Characterization of structural features of food molten‐globule state proteins: An overview

open access: yesFood Biomacromolecules, EarlyView.
Abstract During food processing, pH, ionic strength, and temperature drive conformational transitions from native states to partially folded intermediates and fully unfolded states. The molten‐globule (MG) state typically preserves substantial secondary structure but has relaxed tertiary packing, thereby modulating protein solubility, emulsifying ...

PPARβ regulates vitamin A metabolism-related gene expression in hepatic stellate cells undergoing activation

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2003
Activation of cultured hepatic stellate cells correlated with an enhanced expression of proteins involved in uptake and storage of fatty acids (FA translocase CD36, Acyl-CoA synthetase 2) and retinol (cellular retinol binding protein type I, CRBP-I ...

Mapping the interactions of dengue virus NS1 protein with human liver proteins using a yeast two-hybrid system: identification of C1q as an interacting partner. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Dengue constitutes a global health concern. The clinical manifestation of this disease varies from mild febrile illness to severe hemorrhage and/or fatal hypovolemic shock.

Retinol-Binding Protein 4 in Human Obesity [PDF]

open access: yesDiabetes, 2006
Studies in mice suggest that adipocytes serve as glucose sensors and regulate systemic glucose metabolism through release of serum retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP4). This model has not been validated in humans. RBP4 was highly expressed in isolated mature human adipocytes and secreted by differentiating human adipocytes.

Asymptomatic renal damages in persons with chronic professional exposure to elementary mercury low concentrations [PDF]

open access: yesVojnosanitetski Pregled, 2008
Background/Aim. Any forms of mercury have toxic action on the majority of organs, especially kidneys. The major source of professional exposure to mercury are departments for the production of chlorine which use mercury as catode.

Vitamin A status in healthy women eating traditionally prepared spirulina (Dihé) in the Chad Lake area.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
BackgroundChad Lake is a central place in a region with a high prevalence of vitamin A deficiency. Spirulina, a natural source of β-carotene, is traditionally produced and eaten as "Dihé" around Chad Lake.

The Retinol Circulating Complex Releases Hormonal Ligands During Acute Stress Disorders

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2018
Intensive care workers actively participate in very hot debates aiming at defining the true metabolic, hormonal and nutritional requirements of critically ill patients, the contributory roles played by thyroid and retinoid ligands being largely ...

Generation of specific antibodies against the rap1A, rap1B and rap2 small GTP-binding proteins. Analysis of rap and ras proteins in membranes from mammalian cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Specific antibodies against rap1A and rap1B small GTP-binding proteins were generated by immunization of rabbits with peptides derived from the C-terminus of the processed proteins.
