The Transcriptomic Response Along an Urbanization Gradient Is Also Temperature‐Dependent in a Freshwater Insect

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, Volume 35, Issue 16, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Urbanization has become one of the leading causes of habitat transformation affecting ecosystem functioning. However, the transcriptomic response to urbanization remains poorly understood. Here, we conducted a transcriptomic analysis along an urbanization gradient under different warming temperatures.

Investigating GERMs: how genotype, environment, and rhizosphere microbiome interactions underlie heat response in maize and sorghum

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 251, Issue 4, Page 2152-2167, August 2026.
Three genotypes – a heat‐resistant maize (Zea mays), a heat‐susceptible maize, and a sorghum (Sorghum bicolor) variety – were grown to the V4 stage in growth chambers under optimal conditions or subjected to heat stress. Plants were grown in soil containing a complex microbial community, or in the same soil with a depleted microbiome.

Toll Like Receptor 4: A Potential Link Between Obesity and Metabolic Diseases

open access: yesObesity Reviews, Volume 27, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Epidemiological evidence shows that obesity increases the risk of developing metabolic diseases. Nevertheless, the mechanisms behind this connection remain underappreciated. The substantial impact of these disorders on global health has led to extensive research efforts aimed at identifying the pathophysiological links between them.
