SISREC: a system for image retrieval

Proceedings of the Fourth Mexican International Conference on Computer Science, 2003. ENC 2003., 2004
An important problem in image management is image retrieval. When images in a database are not well organized, their efficient retrieval is a problem. Most of the existing systems use image-features to form the queries to the system. For the final user these features are difficult to use or do not have any meaning. The results output by the system most

The Mead Information Retrieval System

Digest of Papers. COMPCON Spring 88 Thirty-Third IEEE Computer Society International Conference, 1988
A case study is presented of the LEXIS/NEXIS information-retrieval system, which during peak loads processes nearly eight thousand full-text searches an hour. Most often these searches are directed at databases on the order of one hundred billion bytes in size. The I/O and CPU resource requirements to service the LEXIS/NEXIS workload is approaching the

Retrieval formulae for inquiry systems

Information Storage and Retrieval, 1968
Abstract This article discusses the design of automated information-retrieval systems which accept questions in ordinary English and yield as output a numerical answer. Fundamental to the efficient implementation of such a system is the notion of retrieval formulae. These formulae are representations of search strategies in the artificial language of

Rhinoplasty Record and Retrieval System

Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1979
The rhinoplastic surgeon must vary technique to fit the anatomic variations of nose and face. Our system to record and correlate preoperative findings with surgical methods could help accomplish this. It includes three forms to record pertinent findings of the history and physical examination, operative findings and techniques, and postoperative ...

The Prestel system and information retrieval

Program, 1980
This article aims at explaining how viewdata systems work, with a particular emphasis on Prestel. Reference is made to the types of information available from both viewdata and teletext systems, together with suggestions as to how they should be used. Both the system hardware and software are discussed as is the configuration of computers providing the

Information Storage and Retrieval Systems

1969
Does the field of information storage and retrieval as presently constituted qualify as a science? If not, can it ever become a science? These two questions continue to be topics of discussion for professionals associated with the field. While it is not difficult to reach an affirmative answer to the initial question, the process of arriving at such an

The cooperative system for information retrieval

Proceedings 20th International Conference of the Chilean Computer Science Society, 2002
We describe our information retrieval system which allows a convivial access to databases. It is based on a multi-expert architecture using a database management system and a blackboard to control the progressive analysis of the user's sentence. We have integrated a numerical method based on fuzzy rules to deal with uncertainty.

Implication in information retrieval systems.

2010
Some IR models make use of an implication to match a document d and a query q, computing either "q implies d" (e.g. in fuzzy inclusion models) or, the other way, "d implies q" (e.g. in logical IR models). This paper analyzes, from a theoretical point of view, the IR models using both approaches.
