Noise-correlating radar based on retrodirective antennas
IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 2007A new retrodirective antenna-based search radar system has been introduced. The suggested system uses a noise correlation technique to detect the presence and the direction of the target. Simulation and analytical results show an order of magnitude improvement in acquisition time of the radar when compared with a phased array antenna-based radar system

Pilot Tone Reference-Less Phase Conjugator for Phase-Modulated Retrodirective Antenna Applications [PDF]
This letter presents a simple tracking phased locked loop (PLL) that can be used to track phase-modulated signals and provide a phase-conjugated signal for retrodirective retransmission.

ASIP development of a real-time control module for a retrodirective antenna array
Electronically steerable antenna arrays become attractive due the possibility of simultaneously steering the main lobe in the desired direction and suppressing side lobes only by means of electronic control of excitation currents, hence avoiding ...

Retrodirective Phased Array Antenna for CubeSats
2019 IEEE Aerospace Conference, 2019This paper discusses the design of a retrodirective phased array antenna for CubeSat applications. A phased array antenna can offer high gain and beamforming capabilities to small satellites. Retrodirective capabilities allow the communication system to autonomously determine the direction of an incoming signal without prior knowledge, and form the ...

Moving forward in retrodirective antenna arrays
IEEE Potentials, 2003Antenna arrays are individual radiating elements combined so that they function and perform like a single large antenna. Besides high radiating beam directionality, antenna arrays offer the capability to scan the main beam and control sidelobe radiation electronically. Retrodirective antenna arrays, as the name suggests, have a special feature.

Polarization friendly retrodirective antenna array
2012 IEEE/MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest, 2012A polarization friendly rectrodirective array (RDA) is presented. The proposed RDA can receive any polarization and always retransmit the signal back to the interrogator with the predictable (orthogonal) polarization. This added feature can mitigate polarization mismatch loss and provide a more secure communication link.

Retrodirective Array Antenna System for the Microwave Power Transmission
2020 International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation (ISAP), 2021The long and middle range MPT (microwave power transmission) is very important, which basically uses RF beamforming technology to efficiently provide the power at distance and requires the large dimension of array system to the far end power receiver. In this paper, we design an antenna and phase conjugate circuit for the retrodirective array antenna ...

Retrodirective antenna technology for CubeSat networks
Proceedings of the 16th International Symposium on Power Semiconductor Devices & IC's, 2004In the spring of 2003, the University of Hawaii (UH) began participation in the University NanoSat Program, a multi-university effort sponsored by NASA and the USA Air Force Research Laboratories to encourage small-satellite research and development. Undergraduate engineering students at UH have been involved in small-satellite development for the past

An overview of recent advances in retrodirective antenna arrays
2010 IEEE International Conference on Wireless Information Technology and Systems, 2010An overview of the progress made in the RDA field has been presented. The reflect-type architecture that is perhaps most useful for communication purposes is likely to be the phase-conjugating Pon array; this architecture is capable of handling nonuniform wavefronts though it suffers from a large path loss.
