Localization and communication in smart radio environments [PDF]
In recent years, the concept of the Smart Radio Environment (SRE) has emerged as a transformative approach in wireless communications. This innovative paradigm shifts the perception of the wireless environment from an uncontrollable entity to an active ...

Circular Retrodirective Arrays for Launch Vehicles
This paper will present recent findings relating to the feasibility of a circular self-tracking (retrodirective) antenna array for launch vehicle applications. Circular retrodirective arrays (RDAs), are comprised of a single ring of elements placed on a cylindrical ground plane. A breadboard of a circular RDA has already been built and measured at QUB.

Development of a Retrodirective PARC for ALOS/PALSAR Calibration
IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2003A novel PARC of Van Atta array design is developed for polarimetric calibration of PALSAR onboard the ALOS satellite. The PARC consists of four dual-polaraized 3/spl times/3-cross-dipole subarrays. The Van Atta array configuration combining with dual-polarized nature of the subarrays provides the PARC the depolarizing and retrodirective characteristics

Circularly symmetric retrodirective antenna system
IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1971A method is described by which automatically retrodirective performance may be obtained from circular arrays and circularly continuous aperture antennas. The method is also directly applicable to cylindrical antennas for two-dimensional retrodirectivity and is generalized to include a method for obtaining three-dimensional retrodirectivity.

Reflection characteristics of a retrodirective PARC
IGARSS 2003. 2003 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium. Proceedings (IEEE Cat. No.03CH37477), 2004Reflection characteristics of a retrodirective PARC (polarimetric active radar calibrator) were measured in a radio anechoic chamber. The reflection beamwidth was twice as wide as that of a conventional array reflector of the same size, and the measured RCS was 40.8 dBm/sup 2/ that almost agreed with the predicted value of 41.5 dBm/sup 2/.
