Arterial Spin‐Labeling MRI at the Cortical‐CSF Interface: A Novel Biomarker in Alzheimer Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background/Objective Arterial spin‐labeling (ASL) MRI can measure perfusion signal adjacent to CSF spaces and may provide information regarding CSF‐adjacent water transport physiology. We developed an automated pipeline to extract cortical‐CSF interface (IF) perfusion for comparison between Alzheimer disease (AD) and cognitively normal ...

Unemployment, retrospective error, and life satisfaction [PDF]

open access: yes
I compare current and one-year retrospective data on unemployment in the German SOEP. 13 percent of all unemployment spells are not reported one year later, and another 7 percent are misreported.

Associations of Frailty With the Risk of Incident Cancer and Cancer‐Related Mortality in Veterans With Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective This study investigated the association between frailty and cancer incidence and mortality in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). It aimed to identify how frailty influences cancer risk and cancer‐specific outcomes. Methods This retrospective cohort study analyzed data from the Veterans’ Affairs Rheumatoid Arthritis Registry (2002–2023).

Improving retrospective life course data by combining modularized self-reports and event history calendars : experiences from a large scale survey [PDF]

open access: yes
"Event history calendars (EHC) have proven to be a useful tool to collect retrospective autobiographic life course data. One problem is that they are only standardized to some extent. This limits their applicability in large-scale surveys.

Leaftronics: Bio‐Fractal Scaffolds From Leaf Venation for Low‐Waste Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
“Leaftronics” transforms naturally evolved leaf venation into quasi‐fractal scaffolds for sustainable electronics. Polymer‐infiltrated leaf skeletons can be used to fabricate ultra‐smooth, reflow‐ and thin‐film‐compatible decomposable substrates, while making the same lignocellulose networks conducting results in flexible transparent electrodes.

Descriptors to Dynamics: A Materials and Device Perspective on in‐Materio Physical Reservoir Computing for Neuromorphic Edge Intelligence

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Intrinsic material dynamics are harnessed as computational resources for neuromorphic in‐materio physical reservoir computing. Defects, ionic motion, interfaces, percolation, geometry, and biasing shape transient states that provide fading memory, nonlinearity, and high‐dimensional projection for simple readout. A descriptor‐to‐dynamics framework links

Learning‐Based Soft Robotic Grasping: Recent Progress and Remaining Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This review analyzes learning‐based soft robotic grasping from a pipeline‐oriented perspective, encompassing soft gripper design, multimodal sensing, and learning‐based planning and control. It surveys key neural network architectures and benchmark datasets and identifies critical challenges such as sim‐to‐real transfer, generalization, and continual ...

Memory-based and online strategies in retrospective evaluations

open access: yes, 2019
The “construction” view of preference holds that we sample information from memory in the moment to make judgments and decisions. Building on previous work examining the relationship between memory performance and judgment, we used incentive-compatible methods to investigate both the extent to which memory supports evaluation and the potential trade ...

Neural Fields for Highly Accelerated 2D Cine Phase Contrast MRI

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT 2D cine phase contrast (CPC) MRI provides quantitative information on blood velocity and flow within the human vasculature. However, data acquisition is time‐consuming, motivating the reconstruction of the velocity field from undersampled measurements to reduce scan times. In this work, neural fields are proposed as a continuous spatiotemporal

Subjective ratings of prospective memory deficits in chronic heavy alcohol users [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Chronic alcohol abuse has a detrimental effect on retrospective memory. Less is known about its putative effects on everyday memory. This study looked at self-ratings of prospective memory (PM) (memory for future events). After controlling for other drug
