A non-linear hardening model based on two coupled internal hardening variables: formulation and implementation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
An elasto-plasticity model with coupled hardening variables of strain type is presented. In the theoretical framework of generalized associativity, the formulation of this model is based on the introduction of two hardening variables with a coupled ...

Return-map for semiconductor lasers with optical feedback [PDF]

open access: yes1999 IEEE LEOS Annual Meeting Conference Proceedings. LEOS'99. 12th Annual Meeting. IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society 1999 Annual Meeting (Cat. No.99CH37009), 2003
It is well known that a semiconductor laser exposed to moderate optical feedback and biased near threshold exhibits the phenomenon of low-frequency intensity fluctuations (LFF). While this behavior can be numerically simulated using the so-called Lang-Kobayshi model, the interpretation of the phenomenon has remained a controversy.

Motivational Interviewing and Return to Work for People with Musculoskeletal Disorders: A Systematic Mapping Review

open access: yesJournal of occupational rehabilitation, 2020
Purpose There is limited knowledge about motivational interviewing (MI) for people on sick leave with musculoskeletal disorders. Hence, our objective was to investigate what research on MI as a method to facilitate return to work for individuals who are ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Effects of return periods on flood hazard mapping: an analysis of the UFSC Campus Basin, Florianópolis city, Brazil

open access: yesRBRH, 2021
The development of urban areas exacerbates flood risk by increasing both runoff and the exposure of population and infrastructure. In this study, we highlight the importance of return period choice on flood hazard degree and flood hydraulics ...

A Monte Carlo-based framework for risk-return analysis in mineral prospectivity mapping

open access: yes, 2020
Quantification of a mineral prospectivity mapping (MPM) heavily relies on geological, geophysical and geochemical analysis, which combines various evidence layers into a single map.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Identification of nonlinear kinematic hardening parameters for sheet metal from biaxial loading tests [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In this work an anisotropic material model at finite strains with nonlinear mixed (isotropic and kinematic) hardening is used for the identification of the hardening parameters of sheet steel.

Thermo-micro-mechanical simulation of bulk metal forming processes

open access: yes, 2019
The newly proposed microstructural constitutive model for polycrystal viscoplasticity in cold and warm regimes (Motaman and Prahl, 2019), is implemented as a microstructural solver via user-defined material subroutine in a finite element (FE) software ...

A direct elimination algorithm for quasi-static and dynamic contact problems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This paper deals with the computational modeling and numerical simulation of contact problems at Unite deformations using the Finite element method. Quasi-static and dynamic problems are considered and two particular frictional conditions, full stick ...
