Return to sports/activity level after 360° thoracolumbar fusion after burst fractures in young patients

open access: yesBrain and Spine
Introduction: Traumatic thoracolumbar burst fractures are the most common spinal injuries and the proper treatment is controversial. In central Europe in particular, these fractures are often treated with minimally invasive anterior-posterior reduction ...

Predictors of Return to Work After High Tibial Osteotomy: The Importance of Being a Breadwinner

open access: yesOrthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine, 2019
Background: Limited evidence exists on patient-relevant outcomes after high tibial osteotomy (HTO), including return to work (RTW). Furthermore, prognostic factors for RTW have never been described. Purpose: To investigate the extent and timing of RTW in

Analyzing Electronic Excitations and Exciton Binding Energies in Y6 Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The Y6 molecule is used for increasing the efficiency of organic solar cells. The exciton binding energy is calculated for ensembles of Y6 molecules that are representative of the typically used films. The calculations show that the excitons typically spread out over many molecules.

Case Management Interviews and the Return to Work of Disabled Employees [PDF]

open access: yes
This study measures the effect of case management interview (CMI) on 1,000 long-term sick-listed employees’ probability of returning to work. In contrast to previous studies, we use instrumental variables to correct for selection effects in CMI.

Return to work after stroke: feasibility six year follow-up [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Background: In a feasibility trial of early occupational therapy vocational rehabilitation (VR), more VR participants were in work at 12 months compared to those who received usual NHS rehabilitation after stroke (UC) (11 [65%] v 6 [35%]) (Radford et al.

The experiences of workers who do not successfully return to work following a work-related injury

open access: yesWork, 2018
BACKGROUND: A minority of workers with work-related injuries experience challenges returning to work. While factors that hinder return-to-work (RTW) are well-documented, the consequences of failing to successfully return to work on the lives of workers ...

Unique Performance Considerations for Printable Organic Semiconductor and Perovskite Radiation Detectors: Toward Consensus on Best Practice Evaluation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A lack of standard approaches for testing and reporting the performance of metal halide perovskites and organic semiconductor radiation detectors has resulted in inconsistent interpretation of performance parameters, impeding progress in the field. This Perspective recommends key metrics and experimental details, which are suggested for reporting in ...

Understanding and Optimizing Li Substitution in P2‐Type Sodium Layered Oxides for Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores Li‐substituted P2 layered oxides for Na‐ion batteries by crystallographic and electrochemical studies. The effect of lithium on superstructure orderings, on phase transitions during synthesis and electrochemical cycling and on the interplay of O‐ versus TM‐redox is revealed via various advanced techniques, including semi‐simultaneous
