Impedance and return loss performance
Electrical Engineering, 1958THE DESIGN of intercity trunks under conditions of nation-wide dialing and the greater number of permissible links between terminal offices has required a reappraisal of transmission objectives, including terminal return losses.

Return loss requirements for optical duplex transmission
Journal of Lightwave Technology, 1987There has recently been considerable attention given to bidirectional transmission over the same optical fiber. One of the impairments associated with this type of system is receiver sensitivity degradation due to reflected power. This paper presents an analysis of this impairment and compares it with experimental results.

Three Stories of Loss and Return
Cultural Studies ↔ Critical Methodologies, 2001"Land of My Fathers," "Another Mother," and "Someday He'll Come Along" were written for and presented at sessions chaired by Norman Denzin at the Midwest Sociological Society meetings in 1998, 1999, and 2000, respectively. Along with two earlier pieces, "My Mother's Car" and "Sarah and Me," they are intended to answer Denzin's call for new stories ...

Loss persistence and returns in the UK
Accounting and Business Research, 2015In this study, we examine whether estimated loss reversal probabilities are fully reflected in UK stock market prices. Overall, we provide evidence of varying degrees and types of loss firm mispricing with respect to estimated loss reversal probabilities.

Estimating Millimeter-Wave-Circuit Insertion Loss from Return-Loss Resonances
2007 IEEE International Vacuum Electronics Conference, 2007Measurements of RF loss in millimeter- wave circuits typically are limited to frequencies that are impedance matched to permit transmission through the circuit. An alternate cold-test method can provide estimates of such RF absorption for frequencies that are not matched by measuring return- loss resonances without regard for coupling conditions.

Visual Loss in a Returning Traveller with Tick Typhus
Scottish Medical Journal, 1998Ricketsial diseases are increasingly found world-wide and should be considered in febrile patients returning from abroad. This case report discribes the vasculitic complications of a patient returning from the Republic of South Africa with tick typhus.

Return to Work Following Major Limb Loss
2016Amputation results in a permanent change in body structure, which may or may not be partially compensated with prosthetic rehabilitation. The goal after amputation is to reduce activity limitations and increase participation, including return to work as an integral component.
