Resource suitability drives low use of avian-excavated tree cavities: A multi-state occupancy dynamics approach. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Anim Ecol
Birds that nest in tree cavities are sometimes dependent on a few cavity‐excavating bird species to make nesting sites available. Such interdependency, however, does not always materialize because excavated cavities may be unsuitable for continued use, even when available for several years after excavation.

Repeat cytoreductive surgery with or without intraperitoneal chemotherapy for recurrent epithelial appendiceal neoplasms

open access: yesBJS Open, Volume 4, Issue 3, Page 478-485, June 2020., 2020
Cytoreductive surgery (CRS) has been established as the standard for the management of peritoneal surface malignancy (PSM); however, the utility of repeat CRS for recurrent epithelial appendiceal neoplasms has not been explored widely. A large retrospective cohort analysis was performed of patients with PSM of appendiceal origin, evaluating the short ...

The handbook for standardized field and laboratory measurements in terrestrial climate change experiments and observational studies (ClimEx)

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 22-37, January 2020., 2020
Abstract Climate change is a world‐wide threat to biodiversity and ecosystem structure, functioning and services. To understand the underlying drivers and mechanisms, and to predict the consequences for nature and people, we urgently need better understanding of the direction and magnitude of climate change impacts across the soil–plant–atmosphere ...
